For those TTers who are:
  • Listening to the podcast
  • Looking for something to do in October
  • Crazy
  • Any combination of the above

Alzabo Soup is going to be at MileHiCon 50 in Denver. MileHiCon is a relatively small (less than 2000) con where meeting authors and artists are the focus (sorry, there is no chance you'll meet Nathan Fillion or find out what's happening in the next season of Steven Universe). We'll have our own table and will probably be on a panel of some sort during the con as well.

Besides Loki and myself, I know of at least 2-3 other TTers who are going to be there (I'll let them reveal themselves to the world). If there is anyone else interested in some face to face meeting, gaming, and/or hooking up PS4s in hotel rooms so that nobody has to talk to each other and we can all just stare at the beautiful screen, we'd love to see you. Please let us know!

I am planning to do the thing! This will be my first time further south than Boston or further west than Toronto. But I've seen lots of US TV, so I am fully expecting to get shot and die in a desert!

Do you have any more details on this? When can we get tickets the site just seems to have a survey? Who else is going and are any of you sufficiently not gross enough for me to share an Airbnb with?

Me and bride of Drac are both going - we are sharing a room at the con hotel.

I think you can register by using the "click here to register" link on the page. I thought Bulgakov gave me a different link. At any rate I'm pretty sure registration for the weekend is $44.

Direct Registration Link

Confirmed TTers I'm aware of:

Bulgakov
Loki
Dracula
Dr. Nerd
JBear

Loki and I are sharing a hotel room at the con, and we're going to keep it to the two of us because we have to "sit at a table all weekend" and "pretend we have a viable business model" and "would like to make a gesture to the idea that we'd sleep."

For any interested parties, we'll be doing an AMA on the /r/Genewolfe subreddit on Saturday, 7/28 starting at 12pm US Eastern. We would love your participation!

I just noticed this thread a couple days ago. I haven't read any Gene Wolfe and probably won't in the near future, but I have read The Book Of Wonder and The Man Who Was Thursday, so I downloaded those episodes and have listened to the first one. I like your podcast! If I find time for Wolfe in future I'll return to it.

Hey all!

If you're planning on attending the con, three quick reminders:
  • Register! Prices go up at the door, and if the con fills up in advance, there will be no day passes.
  • Tell Bulgakov and/or Loki you're coming.
  • If you're thinking about using the Con hotel, book your rooms NOW!. That link gets you the special Con rate. They are confident that they will use up their allotment this year, and the hotel will be full, if it hasn't been used already.

We're two weeks out from our first con.

People have said they're attending because of us.

We're hosting and participating in panels.

We bought t-shirts today.

This is real?

Wish I could come but it just isn't working it. Campaign work waits for no man or woman...

Next time!

On the off chance any of you are listening but haven't heard or seen our ads for our official T-Shirt, the campaign ends tomorrow night. We'd appreciate the support.

In other news (sneaky early announcement) We're going to do The Book of the Dun Cow by Walter Wangerian Jr. and Mr. Burns: A Post Electric Play by Anne Washburn between the end of The Sword of the Lictor and the beginning of The Citadel of the Autarch. They're both good!

Thanks for the Dun Cow recommendation, I just read the first chapter, and it’s delightful.

Hope your convention went well! Will there be a recap on a podcast intro?

We did talk about something we did at the con, and a little bit about the appearance. Short answer: It was fun!
