When I saw US only getting two games, I assumed this would be the case. I'm betting on a Direct next week. Persona promised info next week, Yuji Horrible said more DQXIs info in January, etc.

I feel like someone in this thread was asking about language stuff with Kunio-Kun: The World Collection, but now I can't find the post.

Anyways, I finally dug into it a little tonight (to capture a little game footage for an upcoming video) and if your Switch is in English, all the UI stuff is, too. Even the game descriptions. Which kind of makes me wonder if this is coming stateside. Yeah, in-game text for some games will be in Japanese, but the games have instructions in the pause menu that are translated. Pretty helpful stuff.

Suprising no one, Sega Ages: OutRun is great! I had actually been using my PS4 copy of Yakuza 0 for access to Outrun, so the first thing I noticed after booting up the new Switch version was a buttery-smooth 60 FPS compared to the arcade's original 30, plus widescreen support. And you can unlock upgrade parts to give your car better handling, top speed, etc. After a couple dozen attempts last night, I finally reached the (easiest) finish line in OutRun for the first time ever!

I'm sure this is mostly old news if you played the 3DS version, but I just wanted to confirm that the Switch port is also a fine choice for OutRun times.

Dragon: Marked for Death (a very Mega Man Zero-inspired action/rpg from Inti-Creates) is up for preorder in the eShop. The digital version has some... weird monetization thing going on with the game coming in two varieties, each with two of the games 4 classes playable but otherwise the same content (the rest are paid DLC).

I was all geared up to be mystified and disappointed by that weird-ass decision, but then I watched the trailer that showcased all the characters and realized that there was only one I would be playing as anyway, so NBD.

Apparently NewEgg is giving American customers an extra $10 in eShop credit if they buy a $50 gift card right now. Curious to see if Canadians got a similar deal, I loaded up the page to find that we can buy $35 gift cards for...$33. Well, I'll still take it.

Do you enjoy FF10, 10-2, and FF12:ZA? Do you also own a Switch?

April for you.

Sorry people, but there is way too much rehashing Wii U cash grabbing going on with the switch and not enough original stuff.

We have (as far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong)
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Hyrule Warriors
Skyrim
New Super Mario Deluxe
Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
Bayonetta 1-2
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze

Not too many system-exclusive original stuff that isn't indie.

Only decent game I can think of is Octopath Traveler.

Those faithless deserters who didn't have a Wii U still deserve access to the good games that came out during that time.

Super Mario Maker will remain a treasure reserved only for those who believed, however.

And, well, Mario Odyssey, Smash Brothers Ultimate, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Pokemon Lets Go, Mario + Rabbids, Fire Emblem Warriors, Kirby Star Allies, and Splatoon 2.

In addition to countless Indies on the eshop.

If Nintendo wants to resell their back catalogue at full price and people are willing to buy it - why shouldn't they? If it's not for you personally, don't buy it.

Gaming is doing what the video market has been doing for decades. People probably bought Ghostbusters on 4K even though they own it on BluRay and DVD before that.

Also Skyrim wasn't on the Wii U, or any Nintendo system before for that matter.

Plus even with that, there is a difference in that any release on the Switch is also a portable release of the game instead of being married to a television.

I'm still not exactly thrilled that many of the same people who bashed the Wii U ended up praising the Switch for more or less doing the same frickin' thing (right down to having fuck all for onboard memory), but the portability being real instead of make-believe and the platform being far more dev friendly* does make a significant difference.

Also I don't mind a good chunk of the Switch library being Wii U leftovers 'cuz the Wii U did have a really great library of first party game. Like, keep 'em coming! The Switch sure could use Super Mario 3D World, The Wonderful 101, and Xenoblade Chronicles X. Hell, see if Monolith can remaster Xenoblade Chronicles 1 while you're at it.

* I've heard that much like the PS3, the Wii U was a significant challenge to port stuff to. Sure would explain why third parties were eager to dump it when it didn't print money.

Not at TT, but many game and tech sites looked down upon the Wii U and were more eager than usual to want Nintendo to stick its head in the guillotine.

I remember a general consensus here that the WiiU tablet sucked, but I didn't share that opinion.

Oh yes, I wanted the Wii U to succeed. At the time, I hoped that it would be the system of choice for new games as the Playboxes and X-Stations became more and more stupidly expensive to make games for.

I got a PS4 for Xmas 2015, so we know how that went. My Wii U's HDMI port deciding to stop playing nice at barely over a year old was also a factor.

I believe it! I just saw an article in the year 2019 saying that Apple should buy Nintendo. Tech sites are awful.

#FE and Xenoblade Chronicles X are the two remaining games I want ported from the Wii U. They're games that are too good to be limited to that platform, as much as I really liked my Wii U.

The Wii U was a turd that actively dragged down its small but stellar library. The attractiveness of hardware matters.

SMM was on 3DS too though.

I had a Wii U but didn't really like it. I still have yet to play Tokyo Mirage sessions though.

I wish they had more JRPGs on the Switch - it's perfect for my commuter lifestyle.

I enjoyed my WiiU a whole bunch. I liked the novelty of the gamepad, personally. I thought it was enjoyable.

Calling Skyrim and Bayonetta 1 "Wii U games" is weird.

Also, like, you know that the Switch outperformed the Wii U's lifetime numbers in a year, right? Like... why wouldn't they publish those games on a system people actually own. Quite honestly, I don't think there's enough "cash grabbing" going on. Why aren't NES Remix 1 & 2 on Switch? (Make a third one, while you're at it, Nintendo.) Super Mario 3D World is legit a Top Five Mario (and better than Odyssey, don't @ me) that more people should have the chance to play.
