The Hardee's down the street from where I grew up was good. I've long enjoyed Hardee's overall. They changed a lot after or around the time I moved to Canada, though.

Still miss it, and I'm glad Hardee's seems to be going back to their own branding, rather than the unified Carl Jr.'s style.

Man, I would have loved one of those. Couldn't even visit the site, though. =\ Kept asking me if I wanted to visit that one or the Canadian one, and choosing US redirected me to their front page.

Thanks for nothing, KFC.

All Carl's Jrs are not created equal. The local ones here in Norcal are typically pretty decent. But my understanding of the franchise's complicated history and sporatic region-based issues means a lot are not nearly as good. Also

Past few years is being overly generous. How about since forever. I distinctly remember their shitty "If it doesn't get all over the place" commercials when I was a tween, with scantily clad models dripping ketchup and bbq sauce all over themselves. It was gross then, and it's just embarrassing now.

Yeah, I've noticed that too -- they seem to have a much wider variance in quality than any other chain I'm aware of. There's one in Fountain Valley that consistently has some of the best fast-food I've had anywhere, but other locations are mediocre or downright bad.

Are they still doing those same kinds of commercials? I haven't seen a Carl's Jr. commercial since Breaking Bad was on TV.

The Carl's Jr commercial campaign of sexy-models-spilling-food-on-themselves was always a pretty poor decision but then they got poker pro Phil Hellmuth to star in an ad one time just to maximize the absurdity.

No idea. Haven't seen a TV commercial of any sort for about as long.

Nah, they changed things up when Carl Hardee, Sr. took over and booted his son out.

That ad campaign didn’t last long, although I can’t think of a commercial I’ve seen since then.

95% of Hardee’s sales are from elderly people getting biscuits in the morning. Their ad campaigns have never made sense.

They’ve always had a solid hot ham & cheese.

No toys in the kid’s meal, though, so my daughter hates the “star restasant” now that she knows McDonald’s exists.

Sort of? Their most recent line of commercials is a "spoof" on the idea staring Celeste Barber which is both incredible and horrifying at the same time (mostly horrifying)

Consider yourself lucky. I don't watch much TV either, but thanks to live sports I see Carl's Jr commercials at least 20 times a day because they get spammed during every commercial break (sometimes multiple times a break). Imagine watching this commercial on repeat 1000x, and you will begin to understand my insanity:

Popeyes offers beleaguered travelers “emotional support chickens”

Quote:
First, a word from Popeyes: The idea for “Emotional Support Chicken” came from various stories and anecdotes about travelers who take really big swings when it comes to classifying an animal as “emotional support,” thus allowing them travel with the animal on board. (Examples: peacock, tarantula, squirrel.) In a press release, the chain stressed that most emotional support animals “provide comfort and companionship, especially during a highly stressful time like air travel,” but figured it could make a play in this arena:

After seeing this, Popeyes decided to offer its own version of “emotional support animals pushing the envelope” by offering travelers “Emotional Support Chicken,” a gesture designed to bring holiday travelers some needed humor to what is one of the most stressful places to be during the holidays—the airport.

Yeah, they're clearly satirizing the people who push the rules regarding support animals too far, but they're also unintentionally creating additional ill will toward people who really need support animals. That's still a very cute box though.

You're going to want a good fire screen for that log.

White castle has Joe & Mac. No, it's not caveman ninja - it's sloppy joe sliders and deep fried Mac & Cheese. Both are actually pretty good.
