Dunno about bit.ly, but TinyURL lets you preview the original link.

The text "With a VR headset, even YOU can be super popular!" set over hordes of magical pheromone-addled anime high school girls swooning and blushing over 'you' via virtual reality feels like a particularly depressing moment in the history of advertisements.

You know that saying, about how the tree of liberty must occasionally be watered with the blood of tyrants? This is like that, only with moe schoolgirls and panties and...

You know what, my point's getting away from me here.

so, I found this anime girl generator.

sharing this in a chatroom revealed one girl was quite clearly cursed (by this generator's lack of proper eye management), because without curation or settings toggled she got nothing but

I was at Otakon in D.C. over the weekend for the JAM Project concert and literally nothing else, but during my expedition to the dealers' room to find the concert merch booth, I passed a CROWDED bodypillow booth in the Industry section, called Playmats.

I feel like if you're going to remind me that these creep monoliths exist to be """played""" with, then they need to be sold to people in long discreet brown paper bags and, like weapon sales, must be immediately taken out of the con center and to your car and run over

They also had signs in the hallways warning you not to touch anyone without their consent.

it's good that we live in a world where people need to be told that

"Glomps" and "yaoi paddles" had a lot to do with that.

It probably sounds awful, but I do sincerely feel that at least some of these problems (like needing the signs to discourage unwanted touching) stem from anime being a hobby that, for probably a variety of reasons, has drawn an audience who don't always really "get" proper social cues and etiquette.

I mean, I'm not saying the signs aren't needed or aren't a good idea. I'm just lamenting the need for them to exist in the first place.

Also, I would say that "don't grab a stranger's tits, even if they look like your favorite cartoon character" is an issue that probably lies beyond the purview of "etiquette." Like, it's straight-up assault. I'm not willing to lay any percent of the blame for that on the allure of exotic cartoons

The most recent AX had a handful of booths set up explicitly as safe spaces, which I thought was cool, and at a con with close to 100,000 attendees must have been determined to be necessary.

I did say "some" of these problems, not all.
