It's being made by the Persona team. There's been no mention of Persona other than that.

And that cameo in P3P I guess. But it doesn't look like an RPG at all...

It is not. In fact we're discussing whether this is an SMT spinoff at all or an entirely new thing.

Yeah, they said specifically that it is an "action adventure". Also, there were no SMT demons in that trailer.

That said, they probably could say that it takes place in the same universe if they wanted I suppose, but other than the cameo, they sound like they want to distance themselves from previous work with this one. In the Famitsu thing, they said that before they worked on their next big RPG, they wanted to try something new.

So...*shrug*.

This is what I want to believe, but games in general have a thoroughly lousy track record in this department, and Atlus has been no exception – Kanji's subplot in P4 most recently. (That pizza ad doesn't fill me with confidence either... it's unsettling in the wrong way.)

Still, early days. I'll keep up some optimism while waiting for fuller details.

I'm on board, but yeah, like a lot of other people have already said, I'd be a little sheepish to play this with other people in the room.

If they can pull off something interseting with its themes, I can see this being a very interesting branch of... well, anything Atlus does, ha ha.

Well, I AM still waiting to play Michigan. Although I don't think that's for sexiness... actually, could someone give me any good reason that never came out here?

Supposedly because it's shit. Or perhaps because it doesn't have much in the way of gameplay, being more like an interactive movie.

wiki:

Quote:
The main method of interacting with the environment in Michigan is to "tag" objects. This draws the attention of the reporter to them, causing her to interact with the object. In combat, players can "tag" an enemy to get the reporter to attack the creature with their weapon. Players can also attack an enemy directly by ramming it with their bodies, although this has limited effectiveness.
Sounds like it's in between a point-and-click adventure and something like Pac-Man 2.

What's up with the sheep? It's the thing that interest me the most about the game. Are they friends? Foes? Pets? Lovers? On that note, I predict the game will have dating-sim elements. Going out on dates with Catherine and such. I hope that they don't make it into a Heavy Rain style interactive movie.

Yeah, not to hijack the thread with this, but indirect control is a seriously underplayed mechanic. What was that other one that does the whole talking to someone through a window deal for the entire length of the game?

Bioshock? :P

I'm assuming you mean a PC game. The only other thing that comes to mind is Lifeline on PS2, but I think that's taking the question too literally and probably not what you meant.

Action-adventure seems to indicate it won't. For the most part I don't think Japanese devs have really jumped onto the QTE bandwagon (although there are exceptions--****ing Bayonetta QTEs, **** the entirety of Ninja Blade. Did I mention Ninja Blade sucks? God, it's so horrible, I just want to hunt down the people responsible and punch them in the face...*rants until he foams at the mouth*).

I played only about 2 hours of Dante, but strictly in terms of QTEs, I agree. Still, as an overall game, what I played of Dante was more competent. Dante's tendency to have me beat a fairly stupid boss only to die repeatedly because I misread the finishing QTE is awful, but I still had more fun than Ninja Blade provided me.

Seriously, I'd rather finish Clash of the Titans:The Videogame (tm) than ever touch Ninja Blade again.

Actually relating to the topic: I can't help but get a Killer7 vibe off all of this.

Let's be fair, it's easy to be competent when you're stealing all your ideas from other, better games and then just making them more grimdark.

What didn't everybody like about Dante's Inferno? It was a pretty sweet action game. It didn't try to say that it was the next coming of Jesus, but it just did sweet stuff while you kill dudes and it had boobs and demons and shit.

It was ugly, stupid, derivative, and the combat wasn't good enough to justify putting up with how ugly, stupid, and derivative it was.

Also this. At least Ninja Blade never switched out endgame content for challenge stages.

I do. And I agree how stupid a concept of the Divine Comedy getting turned into a game where a chick shoots evil demon babies from her tits is a crazy leap, but the game was fun.

And, if Visceral Games is doing the rumored the Jack the Ripper game, I'd be down for that too.

Seriously guys, you have entirely too high of standards when it comes to games. Not everything is going to be mind-blowing.

Or, you know, we just don't have enough free time to play every halfway competent mechanically but otherwise uninspired and derivative game.

(Also, the marketing, oh god.)
