Listening to the soundtrack for Boppin' and I appreciate any game that attempts to take the ethos of The Residents and turn it into OPL3 tunage

If Neverwinter Nights somehow hacked in Co-op I would play it again, but anyway it's excellent that all these iconic D&D games are going to be accessible to a whole new audience.

So, this week Screwattack finally lost any vestige of what it used to be and has officially just become "Death Battle." It was a long time coming, and I hadn't subscribed to their YouTube channel in quite a while, but still, there's part of me that's bummed out about it. Besides the "early videogame videos on the internet" nostalgia that goes along with watching early AVGN and Screwattack Top Tens and whatnot, they also were a community that was really receptive to my stuff. The first SNDG episode did way bigger numbers there than on YouTube at the time. And the community was mostly decent, quashing any GG discussion pretty much right away (despite flack from some of the g1 population), and mostly being a bunch of folks who just liked to talk about games.

It was clear where this was going when Roosterteeth acquired the company, but that doesn't stop it from being a little bit of a bummer to see one of the earliest gaming video platforms on the internet finally peter out.

Is GTA V actually fun? It's all the way down to $15 on Amazon, but although I definitely enjoyed 3 and VC, San Andreas tacked on so many subsystems and skill progression that it sapped my interest in the franchise (I was already turned off by having to eat, exercise, and dress appropriately in a game, when GTA SA asked me to learn how to drive and shoot it was the proverbial straw that made me trade the game in for Katamari instead.) I haven't kept up since, though, but if it's come back to the straightforward open-city structure I could take a chance for fifteen bucks.

You have stats that go up as you play, but the characters start out competent at the basics and you aren't asked to perform any specific activities to maintain your abilities. I thought it was fun, but Rockstar games have been focused more on immersion than easy-to-pick up gameplay for a while.

Especially since GTA Online basically turned the game into Wacky Races ages ago.

Also it's a lot of fun to dress up a GTA avatar like an off-brand Nintendo character.
tl;dr For only $15 I'd say give it a try, see if it clicks for you. I don't enjoy playing it all the time but I do enjoy playing it, especially the online mode.

So I got to play a little bit of God Eater 3 over the weekend. In between life and learning lines for a play, I've got maybe 7 hours in? Enough to get some impressions at least.

The short of it is that it's pretty fun. If you've played Monster Hunter or the previous 2, you know what you are in for and what the loop is: Get a mission, prep your character, fight the monster and get bits and piece and money to upgrade your gear. GE 3 adds in two new weapons: dual short sword and rings.

The dual swords are fast and rack up the combos quite quickly, in addition to being able to put them together for a glaive weapon that burns stamina for it's attack. The ring has slashing for it's normal damage, but it can also morph into an axe for some crushing damage. I've been rocking that as my main and I'm liking it. You can also charge it up and do this axe/chainsaw thing that adds up some decent damage. There's also a new laser gun that I'm still playing with, so I'm not certain how it fully works out. Basically you turn it on and the longer it's on, the more damage it does. Like I said, I'm still giving it a go.

The story seems OK so far. Although one of the character's bust borders on the comical with how big it is.

God, Parish's Mario Clash video ending where it's like "hey we have a few R&D1 compilations on 3DS like WarioWare which included a reference to this game -- sure would be a shame if these virtual boy games never made it off the system" feels like cruel teasing if it comes of nothing in this new direct

One of the dudes at Kinda Funny Games is saying there's a game being announced that nobody expected and was thought to be dead and buried. His words were "very officially cancelled"

And all I know is that Jools Watsham pitched a (presumably remake of VB) Wario Land to Nintendo. And Wario Land is the only game in this set of trademarks that never got anything.

I want to get off this hype train but I can't find the emergency brake -- wait no there it is, it's the trademark for just "Metroid". Time at last for the sequel to fusion

what's the best way to play psx b-list anime rpg classic Grandia 1 in the year of our lord 2019? i own it on psx but i would really like to avoid the voice acting if it's possible, and iirc the psx version was also a little glitchy (though i could be thinking of 2? idk).
