Ok. It's back on there, but the new episodes are not. Hrm.

Okay I wasn't expecting an episode titled "Doomsday Vault" to be a about an actual real thing (well, more or less), but here we are. Neat.

I'm up through "Nothing Can Stop Della Duck!" and it's been a pretty middling group of episodes for me. With the exception of "The Outlaw Scrooge McDuck!" which I loved, none of them really felt like adventures, and relied a bit too much on people withholding information for no reason or overhearing a conversation and leaving in the middle of a sentence. The Moon city feels contentless and empty, and would have benefited from a full episode to actually give it some context, especially if it's setting up a larger arc.

The character work has been great, though, and we've laughed a ton. And when this show is on, it's on, so it's like watching a typical kids show that occasionally whips up something great.

Djinn is this show's version of Dijon, right? He's okay, I guess.

Goldie continues to be Fujiko, and I love it. Definitely better than the withered and defeated old crone in the comics. She works best when used sparingly but I'm glad to see an arc emerging.

Glomgold as a monomaniacal South African tycoon in scotsface is still the cleverest idea this show has had, but he's way too stupid. He's only felt like a real threat a couple of times. I do like the beleaguered executive, though.

The show continues to sideline Donald and I hate it. He's the best character on the show and has amazing chemistry with Scrooge. "Donald is sick of constant adventuring" doesn't really work if he hasn't been on an adventure in ages. Though apparently they're airing episodes out of order (again) so maybe the pacing is just off (again). I get that the show's cast is too large but he really should be one of the mains.

Is it just me, or was on of the extras in the first scene of Friday's Darkwing episode totally wearing the Oppai shirt from One Punch Man?

Well, I mean... Darkwing-centric episode. Sorry if I oversold expectations.

I expected more when I came back to this thread.

Oh my god, that last episode was euphoric.

Nah, Della actually tries. Too hard maybe but she isn't trying to fuck off to train somewhere.

Anyway, The Duck Knight Returns was a weird watch following the allegations against Jim Cummings recently (allegations partially spoilered for possible sensitivity reasons: his wife claimed she had raped and threatened her and seriously hurt the family dog through abuse, courts sided with Cummings in the court case but I guess the court records aren't available yet to know to what degree, etc). As much as I want to believe they are false, I'm not ready to buy his claims yet. So, yeah, it made the watching of it weird. Especially since the thrust of the plot is he, as the "old" Darkwing, goes bad and deranged in his thirst to regain some measure of fame again.

And that's a bummer, as it is actually a really good, funny and somewhat touching episode of TV. And Jim does a great job "reprising" his role in a unique, interesting way that feels like an inverse of the classic Batman: The Animated Series episode "Beware the Gray Ghost". So... it is weird to compliment someone on doing a really good job in the episode following that information. Chris Diamantopoulos is also really great as the new Darkwing and though he comes off as a little less narcissistic and is a bit nice than classic Darkwing (both in the original series and in this episode), I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the character going forward.. Also, whenever I see their credits, I keep mixing up Chris Diamantopoulos and Dino Stamatopoulos. I guess I just can't keep Greek names straight (except for Jason Mantzoukas).

I've missed out on many, many episodes, but at this point I'm just waiting for Disney+ and I'll catch up then.

A DW-centric epispode sounds super tempting, though, even if it's kinda soured by the whole Jim Cummings thing.

Finally saw the DW episode and it's the funniest the show has ever been. I lost it at Martha Wayne's pearls. I also freaked out with glee when I realized what was happening.

It is a shame about Jim Cummings being a monster, though if he's fired from everything the new voice can easily take over for Negaduck.
