A few nights ago I dreamed that I was living in a fancy modern highrise apartment building in a city. Glass window-walls, modern furniture, the works.

But then the building got up and walked away.

I had a dream that I suppose would count as a nightmare... was it just last night? We were in a plane flying over a jungle, when the engines went out and we crashed into the river below (I think we all survived). Bad things just kept happening, like a boomerang someone threw attached to the wall and started growing - it had been some kind of alien all along, and it killed the person who threw it and chased me. Other kinds of crashes/disasters, I think, too. I can't remember it all.

Another time we were driving along the highway on a really high overpass, when suddenly my dad just doesn't turn for some reason and we go off the edge, plummeting into some massive factory complex below and presumably dying. The sensation of falling in both the plane crash and the car and its like feel very real and rather frightening.

It's not very traumatic, anyway. Even the dream where I got cut then shot to death after being chased through a store by a gang didn't really affect me once I woke up. Most of my dreams I consider pretty rad or neutral, even if they're mostly bad. I suppose they wouldn't be considered nightmares at all, really.

I dreamt I reading a Sherlock Holmes story a few nights ago. Which is a bit odd, since I hadn't seen or read any Holmes material for a while. A few days later I read a Holmes pastiche, which I was rather in the mood for thanks to my dream.

I actually dream about reading fairly often. Maybe I should read less? Or more?

I dreamed my brother was going over his inheritance with my grandmother. It was Jimmy Hoffa's laundry and a hunk of bread (still soft) he'd been eating before he abandoned it. It was all in a basket put together from branches and jungle-vines, because Hoffa had been hiding out for obvious reasons. It was surprisingly good craftsmanship!

Additionally, I'm beginning to realise I'm a lucid dreamer--but only at the very start of my sleep cycle, when I "shift" through dreams if one is too boring or scary.

Once I go deeper into my cycle though, I'm stuck. I get a lot of disturbing dreams, but few outright nightmares that have me waking up with my heart pounding.

One I do remember was that I was being chased by a rapist through some suburban house. When I finally burst out the front door, I found myself transported instantly back into the house.

It's not scary. My dream was like a black-and-white comic strip featuring a fat couple in a 1950s convertible driving on an empty road. Out of nowhere, the man's face became pig-like with squinty eyes and fangs sprouting from his lower set of teeth. He bit his date in the neck, and her face too changed like his. It scared the crap out of me at the time. I woke up sweating and in a panic.

Real fear!

Another involved Count Chocula hiding in my closet. I opened it up, he ran after me, and I s-l-o-o-o-o-w-l-y tried to run away before giving up, huddling, and feeling his fingers tickling my ribs before I woke up. Hahahaha!

That's awesome. I love completely irrational terror.

I had a dream where I helped out this cute female android by pretending to be her boyfriend and making out with her a little so this dude would leave her alone. Then we went to Bush's farewell dinner at the local Borders/Barnes and Noble.

I had the seafood platter.

Has anyone ever tried lucid dreaming?

They say it works best when you take a nap during the morning. That happened to me (unintentionally) some days ago, and I swear I was trying to force my dream to involve pornographic sex but I could will it enough because even though I knew it was a dream, I felt like like the part my mind that could not make such a distinction was winning. So it was more like a half-lucid dream.

I don't think I've ever had a lucid dream. They say it is easier when your little, and I'm inclined to believe so because my dreams were so much more vivid when I was a child than now, where I usually forget everything but the broadest details only a few minutes from waking up.

Was it Mulva?

I had a dream a couple of nights ago where I was making out with a cute girl. But before it could proceed further in that direction, I started getting annoyed with her. She was always following me around and I just wanted some peace and quiet. I told her some lie to get her off my back, but then I felt extremely guilty about it, because she was really a well-meaning, naïve girl.

Then I was in a shopping mall that was being raided by Melnibonéans with rayguns.

Early this morning I dreamed I was in High School again.

That's bad enough on its own, but the subject of the dream was that, apparently my English teacher from middle school had me again senior year (and this is no stretch since my Middle School Social Studies teacher was my Economics teacher as a Senior), and she was telling me sadly that I had to start coming to class or I wouldn't graduate.

When this woke me up, I decided I wasn't going to be able to get back to sleep so I played some Silent Hill 2 before breakfast. I died.

My dreams though are starting to give me the feeling that I feel inadequate about myself on every level. The only ones I remember are the ones where I'm an abject failure, a total loser.

*sigh*

A guy I slept with years ago was in a bed in my grandmother's kitchen, making soft tacos. Each soft taco contained a different variety of pepper, and he offered me a spot in the kitchen-bed, at which point I woke up.

Last night I dreamed someone was trying to blow up The Office, which was now located in an all glass room at the top of a high rise instead of the second floor of a tiny building. A man had strapped a bomb to himself and was waiting outside the windows/walls, and for some reason everyone inside was standing next to the window watching him.

When his bomb went off, it went "pfft" and nothing happened. Comedy is a safe for another day!

I once had a dream where I dreamed I worked at the Office, but everyone was a jerk. When I woke up from that dream, I found out I was married to Jenna Fischer/Pam Beasley. It worked out in the end.

Ggggnnnnnn I took some Tylenol PM last night to help fall asleep easier. I was awake until 4am and now I feel like a zombie.

I also had a weird dream that my father kicked me out of our house because I was fighting with my younger brother, and then I remembered I already have my own apartment. But then he told me I had to move out-of-state. And I was like yeah, and? But I was still a teenager, and my brother was a little kid, yet he was missing the leg he lost in a motorcycle accident a few years ago. Dreams are effed up man.

Last night I dreamed that I was a member of some kind of Satanic group. Me and two other members of said group were trying to start a forest fire in a california state park camping ground.

Last night I had the least completely depressing dream I've remembered in years!

I was playing Contra 4 with Mike Uyama (who I've met in person, so it's not that creepy; he's also redone the Contra 3 record, except the video came out in black and white so he's doing it again [everything in these parentheses is real]) and we beat some stage and got a bunch of crazy messages, about SECRET NEW GAMES being made by Konami that clearly don't really exist. And one screen where the "Contra: Dual Spirits" logo was broken into pieces and rearranged to spell "TOBY VOLTMAN KEEFE." All in all, it was pretty fucking funny. I think things have gotten serious. With Contra 4.

Well, thanks to the discussion on Cadbury Creme Eggs in the "Not Worth It's Own Thread" Everything Edition thread, I somehow dreamt I was somewhere in Europe on a charmingly crooked, uneven, narrow and slightly hilly cobblestone road at night, with lampposts and shrubbery and people all about.

And I was, of course, eating a Cadbury Creme Egg.

... except the center was actually an honest-to-goodness egg center, with raw egg white & yolk.

Really wasn't as pleasant as I thought. I had to spit it out in the nearest bin.

Then it was followed by laser tag with more than 50 or so black-clad people in a completely different location, with two modern hexagonal buildings on a grassy, hilly plain. Oddly enough, there were TT members there, and the more militarily-inclined players were busy going through the procedure of loading, er, metal-encased laser bullets into their laser rifles? Don't ask me.

I dreamt that Rick Moranis was actually a beautiful actress who played a nerdy man in all the movies Moranis starred in.

I had a dream last night that four other Talking Tyrants and I were attempting to play 100 video games in one weekend. Besides myself, there were Kishi and Pence and I think MightyBlue and MoltenBoron.

I had volunteered my parent's house in Philly. The basement was set up with seven different systems (and a PC) set up. The plan was to play in shifts with four people playing at once with the fifth person resting. Everyone arrived early on Saturday morning. Kishi explained how expensive the hotel he stayed at the previous night was. I took everyone down to the basement and got them set up. The variety of games we had was impressive - more so because most of them had their original boxes and documentation. I had the first shift off, so after everyone had started playing their various games, I went back upstairs to get a little more sleep before I had to start playing.

When my shift came up, I headed back down to the basement to discover a slight problem. It seems that the lord of darkness/ruler of evil/big bad guy had actually been trapped inside a video game. Keeping him sealed inside the game required making the correct dialog choice at the beginning of the game. Being tired, one of the tyrants accidentally selected the wrong one and now he was loose to wreak havoc on the world.

This made everyone sad, so we cancelled our planned playthrough of 100 games and everyone but one person left because he really enjoyed playing through an old PC game called "Gretchen".

Oh good, somebody else bumped the thread for me!

Last night I dreamed my family and I were living in this small, hotel room-like apartment in a long twisty alley in the middle of this big twisty maze of a city with streams and bridges and crap criss-crossing it. My dad stole a box of cupcake mix, which for some reason upset all the punks living in our area, causing them to riot and cause trouble outside. They were old-school, '80s-type punks, too.

I can't really remember or explain the how or why, but the resolution involved Paul McCartney and Bono sitting on an outcrop under a bridge watching stuff go down and staring at the big ampitheatre in the middle of the cityscape on occasion. It was up to several Muppets and Bob Denver to bring McCartney, George Harrison and Bono together in the ampitheatre to sing a song to make the punks stop rampaging and come together and cheer and watch the show. At one point Bob Denver got so mad at Paul McCartney that he started hitting him with blurred speed, Popeye-style. One of the Muppets took the brains-filled skull of another Muppet and started doing a song-and-skit to get the show going, though it didn't go over well.

Eventually everybody did their song and the punks stopped and happy ending. Man I don't even know.

A few nights ago I had a dream that I was working the night shift stocking shelves at Kmart and living in a crappy one bedroom apartment. I barely ever talked to anyone in person outside of work, and I never saw any of my family.

It was the happiest dream I've had in a long time.

See, that's a dream. None of this "I drove around with my friends but one of them got mad and left!" crap. We dream big. And crazy.
