Default Baboo Season 2: Idle Thumbs is back!

I think this very much deserves its own thread. I'm so freakin' happy about this.

Chris Remo, editor at large at Gamasutra
Jake Rodkin, community coordinator at Telltale Games
Steve Gaynor, designer at 2K Marin

Formerly:
Nick Breckon, community manager at Bethesda, former editor at Shacknews

I have no idea what it'd be like for someone going in fresh. I started listening around episode 10 and I was fine, but there are a lot of weird in-jokes related to wizaaaaards and bird noises and VIDEO GAMES! If you liked GFW Radio it really, really does pick up that torch and carry it forward into a world of bizarre Nintendo patents and playing Far Cry 2 in new and interesting ways. Plus whenever they talk about DOS gaming it makes me happy.

I mean, I know they had at least a couple of "in jokes" going when I started, but it isn't like you'd be lost in a conversation - within one podcast, you'd understand why these weird guys are talking about wizards and puffins all the time. And, honestly, most of their recurring jokes don't stem from something - it was just as random the first time.

Anyway, it's a great podcast and everyone should listen to it.

I started from the beginning and by the time I caught up, it was over. I don't have any regrets because even though the previous episodes were full of old news, the discussion was almost always interesting/insightful/funny.

This time, though, I'm excited to be riding that horsebag from day one. I've got a long bus ride to look forward to tonight, so I'm saving this episode for that.

I only ever listened to a few of the old Idle Thumbs casts, but I'll give this a try. I really liked the episode I listened to where they talked about "Old Man Clancy's HAWWWWWW".

Ya gotta use the kid character to kill the snake.

They did make a good point: making a game out of Up where you inexplicably wander around slaying snakes is very strange

I came in late and then listened to earlier (but not so early) episodes, and even though I didn't understand where the running gags came from, I understood they were gags and I laughed along all the same

It says something about the show when I'll skip 1up YoursFour Guys 1up when they talk about stuff I know nothing about, like PC games (and, I'm sad to say, I skipped that ATB about Avernum too) but I never skipped a single Idle Thumbs ever since I subscribed, and I still plan to listen to previous episodes.

My Heavy Rain demo experience was enhanced (some might say ruined gloriously) by constantly rewinding the canned animations. Watching the PI remove and replace his inhaler for a minute was surprisingly amusing. Maybe I should have let the nervous FBI detective trip and fall on his face while traversing the muddy hill, too.

Thank you, Idle Thumbs!

Shame this isn't going to be a regular, weekly thing. Such a great episode, and it only served to remind me how much I love Idle Thumbs.

Irregularly scheduled Idle Thumbs is far better than no Idle Thumbs at all.

What an incredible bummer than the intended episode 150, featuring all five of the main thumbs casters, was destroyed by big dogs.

Especially since they're even less likely to get a Big Dog back in the same room as them again.

They recorded a 2 hour podcast with all 5 Thumbs, plus a fucking robot and it's lost forever

The new Idle Thumbs theme is amazing. I restarted the episode to hear it again.

I think(??) I'm in it! And it's so great, it really surpassed my expectations. Wonder if Chris was inspired by the changes they make to the Giant Bomb theme on a regular basis? This has that sort of vibe. And it's amazing.

I really think Thumbs should shy away from "games on a list" discussions, because for as much as I like Danielle, the most recent episode was very scattershot. The game discussion on the show works when it's far more casual and organic.

...and man, the Star Citizen discussion that has happened through the e-mail segments has done the exact opposite of most Thumbs discussion. I just don't care, and at times wish the game wouldn't actually exist just to spite all the dumb amounts of money that have been put into that game.

Otherwise, I enjoy each episode! I do wish they'd get a four-mic setup working again, because why otherwise is Sean randomly off podcasts when a guest and/or Breckon show up?

I mostly just wish Effnick Breckon was on more often.
