This reminds me so much of the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. I mean that as a compliment.

The fact that Alex Hirsch wrote the first draft makes me a little hopeful.

I was not looking forward to this because (I think) I heard Detective Pikachu’s video game voice and he is just a gruff middle-aged man or something. Not cute. Why would I look forward to a movie about that?

But I liked this trailer. Ryan Reynold’s voice sounds like Ryan Reynolds. Furry Pikachu is very cute. Fuck. I think Pikachu’s definitely cuter than Eevee now. What the h*ck?

I'm fine with Jiggly-puff, but apparently some people thought it'd look like a smooth gumball.

Maybe it's really a short-haired puff but this one's wearing its winter coat.

I'm not so much surprised about so many Pokémon having hair as I am surprised about Mr. Mime not having hair.

Just seeing people's reactions to this trailer made this movie worth it for me.

As for the film itself, basically:

Thirding this.

Also, that Psyduck looks so WRONG! >_< (but then again, I guess it is a Pokémon that's supposed to feel wrong in every way)

I'm glad that Mr. Mime is just as creepy in this movie as I have always imagined it.

If it makes you feel better, Mr. Mime has peach fuzz.

If so, I really hope we get Jesse and James. I know they are cartoon exclusive characters, but they are so great. They like to cross-dress and I like their backstories. Plus, casting them in my head is very fun.

They originated in the anime, but they've been in the games twice now! Once in Yellow and again in Let's Go! They got their own G1 sprites and everything!

Are they competent battlers in the game, or do they go blasting off every time there too?

According to Hirsch, he was involved at an early stage, but didn't write any of it.
