Those first five minutes of documentary (?) is probably the most entertaining documentary I've seen in a long, long time.

There was going to be a picture of Indiana Jones Kermit from the Muppet Babies here, but I couldn't find it. So use your imagination. Use it!

Hah, funny you should bring him up. One of my friends and I have been gushing at each other over Henson and The Muppets like mad the past few weeks, as Muppetry was such an essential chunk of our childhood. I miss that giant bearded lumberjack like hell, man. I've still got a stuffed Kermit that's as old as I am sitting on my shelf.

As this is the Youtube thread, then, let's link!

The following nugget of greatness is Jim Henson and Kermit together on some '70s gameshow. Involves small funny hats, adorable quips and a random performance of 'It's Not Easy Being Green'.

I'm sure many folks here grew up watching this on Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network's Oh Canada!, but what the hey.

The Cat Came Back

One of the greatest cartoons of all time. The animation's a bit crude, but it shows how good music and a fantastic sense of timing can really make a 'toon.

Oh man, I remember The Cat Came Back! However, I didn't realize how sympathetic the guy was, or remember little details like all the damsels in distress tied to railroad tracks. I guess Snively Whiplash is really busy in that part of Canada...

Man, that's spooky. I wonder what other shoddy residuo-Euro animations are lying dormant in my childhood memories.

Since we're all waxing nostalgic, here's a few more:

The Danger Mouse intro

Remember Count Duckula?

Ok, time to let the geek out: theme from Tales of the Abyss. With subtitles that you can almost see.

Honestly, Karma is probably one of my favorite songs, and it's not really a geeky thing to like J-Rock anymore.

A two-part story on female otaku, or fujoshi as they're also called. It's from a Japanese entertainment show, which means silly commentary and huge, colorful subtitles in Japanese. It's also subbed in English, though, and really quite interesting. You think Japanese girls go for feminine guys? You ain't seen nothing yet!

Part the first.

Part the second.

Come on, SOMEBODY here has to remember this show. It was like the MAD magazine version of Dirty Harry! Not all of the episodes were great, but this is a real gem.

I remember Sledge Hammer! Of course, I was quite young, so I don't remember it very clearly. But one thing I do recall is that he once said something in Swedish to a couple of girls. It sounded pretty ass.

So I'm sure everyone's already seen it, but it's still... curiously mesmerising. I guess because it syncs so well.

Thought you guys might like to know. Last night, YouTube implemented a thumbs up/down feature on the comments. You can bury bad comments now and set a threshold to moderate which comments you see and don't see. Hopefully, this will start to cut down on the amount of spam, chain, one-word, and flaming comments.

On the other hand, this may have the opposite effect and cause everyone to just bury each other's comments for no reason. The system works for Digg, but the collective IQ of the YouTube community seems to be down a couple notches.
