Here in the season opener the Bills have benched Nathan Peterman in the third quarter. His statline: 5-18, 24 yards, no touchdowns, two interceptions.

This Lions/Jets game is brutal.

Patrick Mahommes has thrown twice as many touchdowns as incompletions today.

Another year and ESPN's streaming app on the Roku is still atrocious. I can still get a better quality experience from a pirate stream than from the official streaming broadcast. It's like ESPN is actively trying to build up resentment among cord cutters.

ESPN spent the better part of a decade actively fighting industry trends instead of embracing the future, so it's not surprising to learn their streaming app is woefully behind

The Jon Gruden quote making the rounds about how hard it is to find a great pass rusher has softened the blow of the Seahawks getting their ass handed to them by a team QBd by Mitchell fucking Trubisky.

I mean I know we're three years removed from the glory days but Christ on a cracker.

I loved the Jon Gruden Raiders, round 1. The Jon Gruden Raiders, round 2, are the funniest team in football.

Pass rushing talent is hard to find. That is why it made sense to trade Khalil Mack. They got two first round draft picks; that gives them two chances to draft a transcendent pass rusher, like Khalil Mack.

Martavis Bryant was not good enough to help the team, so they cut him after the preseason. But week 1 revealed the weakness in their receiving corps, so they had to go find free agent help. Luckily, a talent like Matravis Bryant was available, so they snapped him up.

Oh KC fan, right? Enjoy possibly the best quarterback you guys have had in generations. Ours may be dead by Christmas.

Meh, it's a down year for the Seahawks. These things happen to NFL teams that aren't the Patriots. The good news is, it's the NFL so you can rebuild in like a year if you draft well. Just be thankful your team isn't Browns/Bears/Raiders level incompetent and there's zero hope of ever being good ever.

I agree that Jon Gruden round 2 has been a highlight reel of hilarious bungling so far. Gruden is just lucky that the Bills management is so aggressively incompetent so that they deflect some of the spotlight of blame that would otherwise be more focused on him. (Conspiracy theory: Gruden deliberately traded for the boringly mediocre A.J. McCarron just to get him away from the Bills so that the only qbs on the Bills roster would be the duo of the over-hyped rookie Josh Allen and the catastrophically inept Nathan Peterman. It makes Gruden look favorable in comparison!)

If you're in Missouri I imagine it's hard to be a Rams fan after the team ghosted on St. Louis and moved across the country. I guess that leaves Kansas City by default?

Even as KC fan I can't get excited for the season. We always start strong and then fail horribly the closer it gets to the playoffs.

The Chief's current m.o. is to make it to the playoffs and then lose in some inexplicable fashion (blow a four touchdown lead to the Colts, lose to a Steelers team who never even scored a touchdown, blow another big lead to the Titans that starts when the QB catches his own pass for a TD) which is usually exacerbated by Andy Reid mismanaging the clock.

I'm honestly surprised they haven't run Andy Reid out of town like they have multiple other coaches yet. I guess getting to the playoffs is better than nothing to the superfans (personally, I just felt cheated out of the money for the playoff seats).

Do you really want to go back to Herm Edwards or Romeo Crennel?

I didn't say I wanted them, it just seems like the fans have run coaches out of town for less.

I do find it 70% amusing/30% sad that the Rams and Chargers should both be really good this year and yet most of L.A. won't give a shit because they'll be watching Lebron.

Why is that any percent sad? LA has been a basketball town since forever. If the NFL wants to be more popular in Southern California, maybe they shouldn't 1) try to fleece their fans for stupid stadiums, 2) run away with their tail tucked between their legs whenever the going gets tough.

The team's new quarterback looked really good, the defense gave a stellar performance, and the other team looked totally hopeless. Exactly as everyone expected.

Yeah, I knew it was gonna happen. Vikes gotta Vikes, after all. I completely forgot sportsbooking was legal now, I could've cleaned up by being one of five people betting on the Bills (something like +16.5 spread projected in favor of Vikes beforehand, sheesh).

RIP Jimmy G. RIP the Niners. Hope Jimmy can get healed and back on his feet; it's always a shame when a big injury derails a promising career so early. But this couldn't have happened to a better team.

I was pretty sad to see Garoppolo get hurt like this, he's been fun to watch and a great story. Here's hoping he comes back with renewed vigor and a top pick to play around with. Not really a 49ers hater but I can understand the sentiment from a Seattle fan!

The Niners are a division rival but this is still upsetting. Garappolo has a lot of potential and he's already the second best QB in the NFC West after Wilson (don't @ me with Goff). This sucks.

Eric Reid, who kneeled alongside Colin Kaepernick in San Francisco and had similarly been unemployed, signed with the Carolina Panthers today.
