There's been a mobile version of DQVIII for like 5 years.

I wish they would make two DQIXs already. Or a FFVI that has the localization and mechanical perks of the later rereleases but doesn't look, sound, or run like shit.

I'd be surprised if we don't start hearing about a DQIX remake by the end of the year.

What estragon said. Also while I have no problem with emulation, I'd still prefer it to be something released officially, as a thing I can buy. I wanna give Square Enix money for a good new version of Final Fantasy VI, not another compromised port job or the Monkey Jesus sprites mobile version. All of the ports have at least brought something neat to the table, but they've all fallen short of the 1994 original in one way or another, too.

I was referring to the Ecce Homo fresco's DIY restoration.

Like, I get there were good intentions behind Final Fantasy VI's visual update, but to take a great looking 16-bit RPG and do that to it...

I think if you want to talk about FF you should do it in the FF thread!

I was just responding to the comments on my comments, is all.

Back on topic, it's a shame that Dragon Quest IX still hasn't seen a rerelease. I'm guessing they're saving it for a remake, maybe?

Probably saving for a remake, yeah. Their engine has grown considerably since it came out, and I'm sure a lot of their DQ resources had been tied up in making XI.

Not to mention the whole streetpass function will be moot.

Oh yes, I'm sure whenever we see DQ9 again it'll be in a remake that looks more like the 7 remake or 11. It was a neat DS game, but there were definitely some graphical shortcuts taken (like the various 2D NPCs) so it could run well (or at all) on the platform.

This, too. Sure they'll find some substitute for that, but I don't know what.

Itís got a slow intro, but once the GAME bit of DQ9 gets going Man does it go down sweet.

Itís my third time playing through it, and itís a filling meal of a game!
