If you don't want to do a kill everything run, but do want to try out the final boss, there's a web-based Bad Time Simulator.

(I . . . I can't believe I ever learned how to get through this boss fight at one point. I can't do it anymore, at all.)

I do, and I agree.

(I still haven't, myself.)

There's a way to get into Sans and Papyrus's shed, too:

Wouldn't it be nice to let Papyrus win, for once? Or twice? Or thrice?

I feel like I'm vaguely necrothreading but, on the subject of [insert name here]:
There's an argument to be made that they weren't exactly evil either, only misanthropic and suicidal before they fell into the Underground. They loved their new monster family, and killed themselves to allow them freedom (and possibly to destroy humanity), and it is your actions as a player that takes them from "suicidal and doesn't play well with others" to "actual mass murderer".

Nah. One of the videos in the True Lab describes how the First Child thought it was hilarious to "accidentally" poison his dad. He was always a psychopath.

Alternative explanation: a 10-year-old saw "butter" in a recipe and mistook it for "buttercups" because they are 10. That particular substitution is nonsense for a deliberate poisoning attempt.

You posted that seconds before I edited the post itself to clarify, so I'll repeat myself by saying substituting butter for buttercups is utterly nonsensical as a deliberate poisoning attempt but makes perfect sense as an innocent misreading by a child

My 70-year-old parents don't know what butter is.

(They call margarine "butter".)

I dunno, some 10 year olds are pretty stupid.

And since adult monsters don't grow older unless they (currently) have kids, there's a very real possibility that The First Child was from a time and place when butter may not exactly have been a common food in every single home, like the Medieval Shithole Age or the colonial days. Like, the kid could've originally lived in Salem during its witch hunt days, with parents who were too poor to afford a butter churner.

That is an absurdly long way to walk just to justify why the villain isn't.

The villain is you

I'd also note that the True Home monologue explicitly says Chara lived in a "village"

Loki being the actual villain all along makes so much sense that I can't believe I didn't see it before.

I'm not saying that the villain ain't evil, just that kids can be stupid enough to not know what butter is.

And even if he is evil incarnate, I do still think Chara came from a different era.

But, while The First Child is evil in the game, I do think there's a possibility that The First Child wasn't always evil...or at least, he was just a li'l asshole in the way your typical stupid 10 year old is. Maybe his soul being absorbed by Asriel, the fatal beatdown the Asriel/Chara hybrid received, and Alphys's experiments that brought Asriel back as a soulless and eventually genocidal flower were all factors that ended up corrupting him too, turning him from "lol lets make dad eat flowers" to "They all deserve to die, Jason Frisk" by the time the events of the game happened?

I think they get corrupted by your actions, as a player, over the course of a Genocide run. In a Pacifist run, all they do is act as a friendly (if occasionally sarcastic) narrator and a bridge between you and Frisk.

If it was an accident, Asriel wouldn't have mentioned how much the First Child laughed at it.

I have followed in the footsteps of this thread. I'm in the middle of my own second, murder-free playthrough and all I have to say is "... it's kind of cute... I mean. I'M TOUGH!!! I LOVE TO EAT ROCKS!!!"
