Yeah. If you want a sort of breezier mega man experience, try 4!

I've never been huge on 8's soundtrack, but there's an FM version of the OST floating around on youtube somewhere that I really like.

Yup; and if you want my advice for easiest and best choice for START WITH FIGHTING THIS ROBOT MASTER in the series, kick things off with Toad Man.

But if you'd rather suss it out yourself, don't you read that. Don't you do it, now!

I was just saying earlier in this thread how I get this one in my head all the time. And now it's stuck there again.

Let's brofist over the fact that my ringtone has been the Mr. X Stage 1 theme for over a year.

Mega Man 2 on normal mode is also a good start, though That One Fucking Boss will still be a pain.

With Mega Man IV down were up to 77 Evil Robot Masters beaten. I should, perhaps, have set the minimum higher...

This one took a bunch of bits of things that were pretty good and spruced em up so they're amazing.

I guess that means there's nothing to call it but A Muppet Christmas Carol

Mega Man 1 is all done. I don't know if we're counting Wily bosses, but here's how it went:

Yellow Devil (sigh...) mostly gave me trouble because I had to get the hang of the pause trick on a PS4 controller.

Mega Clone wasn't too tough, as long as I kept my distance. That Elec Man rematch, on the other hand... Also, I literally got killed by MM1's slippery physics at one point, while trying to grab some life energy. Got it, then immediately dropped into a pit while turning around.

CWU-01P - How did it take me this long to figure out it was semi-weak against the Buster, so I didn't have to worry about using up weapon energy before I started throwing rocks at it?

Wily Machine - Again, the pause trick did the... um, trick. The challenge was (1) getting past Fire Man without too much damage, and (2) not losing the remainder by failing to jump through Ice Man's shots.

Tomorrow, I start on Mega Man 2.

Made some Christmas Stars go dim.

Of all the games with Robot Masters in this franchise, Mega Man V is the Robot Masteriest; with 8 Stardroids, plus Terra and Sunstar, as well as the return of the Mega Man Killers (and a four part Wily Fight); and thatís all in one level. Itís a cornucopia of Super Robot Fights, and one of the unsung brightest spots in the series and itís full of battles against alien soldiers. I guess that makes it Santa Claus Conquers the Martians

93/200 down!

3 Robot Masters down from Mega Man 2. Except for one misstep with the Quick Man lasers (I always forget whether to go left or right on the second screen), and accidentally eating an E-Tank on the first screen of a level (another symptom of my "getting used to playing Mega Man on a PS4 controller" problem--stupid Steam version won't let me assign Start to the trackpad), it was like riding a bike.

I have to take people's word at that, because I only learned to ride a bike a few years ago.

Anyway...

Flash Man - Chump

Quick Man - Chump

Metal Man - Chump

I cheated like heck to get through Mega Man and felt no regret.

It came first so it possesses lots of historical clout and is a stone-cold, pitiless destroyer and bestows equal measures of never ending peace and battle. So I guess it's Nicholas of Myrai

122/200 now!

Geez, forget five weeks, we might have Christmas Saved by the end of the weekend.

See, I would think Mega Man 2 was St. Nicholas. It's kind, joyful, and generous, except for one incident where you might get a literal slap in the face if you fall into grave error.

Fire Man and Yellow Devil down. If anyone can beat Yellow Devil without cheating the Elec Beam trick my metaphorical hat's off to you.

I was able to do that at one time, as a kid, but I'm not eight years old anymore.

I can beat Yellow Devil v2 in MM3 on the reg. But that's all retained muscle memory from when I was a lad. Never had MM1 back then.

MM3 Yellow Devil is much easier; I can do that too. I think the slide helps.

It's not my fault the NES doesn't have a dedicated screencap button!

Down with Mega Man 2 on difficult mode! Been a while since I've played the game, and difficult mode was a tad more difficult than I remember it being. The re-fight Wily stage in particular was quite harrowing for me, as well as the final boss.

Flash Man? Buster'd!
Metal Man? Buster'd!
Wood Man? Metal'd!
Air Man? Leaf'd & Buster'd!
Heat Man? Buster'd!
Clash Man? Mini tornado'd!
Quick Man? Flash'd & Clash'd!
Bubble Man? Metal'd!

Running total for me: 24 Robot Masters and 2 Wily Fortresses down so far!

Bubble Man got popped.

Heat Man got soaked.

Wood Man got burned.

Only died once at the blocks in Heat Man's stage!

All 8 Robot Masters down in Mega Man 3. Only Gemini Man gave me trouble, but that's because it's been years since I took him on with the Shadow Blade instead of the Search Snake. Had no hits on Needle and Hard Man, which I don't think I've ever had before.

Edit - And that's another one down! Played it as Rockman 3 and it wasn't all that different. Some text in Japanese and possibly a glitchy bit or two...plus the title screen of course.

Edit 2 - Now playing Mega Man 2. Got Flash Man and Quick Man down, but I think I've carried on the torch a little much today, so I'm calling it a night.

Mr. Scott already pointed out that Mega Man 2 is best represented by Nicholas of Myra, so I guess that mental leg-work was done for me.

165 Robot Masters total are beaten!

Iím sitting on 55, personally, and 6 Doctors Wily.
