Default In Waterdeep, YOU are the asshole questgiver! Lords of Waterdeep playtime thread

Anyone know if the online gameplay is cross-platform (Android, Steam)?

Because this game kicks ass, and I wanna play a game with all you cool cats.

It's 10 bucks on the Android App store, plus 3 dollars each for the expansions: Skullport and Undermountain.

So I guess I'm finally gonna build up my friend list on Google Play for this?

My account is TyrMcdohl108 on Google Play, and if it matters, Tyrmcdohl in the in-app login.

It was also a lot cheaper than that a couple months ago when I bought it. I only ever played the tutorial game though it was pretty fun - it's just rare that I feel like sitting down and Devoting Time to a phone game, even if it's a very fun one.

It looks like you can set it up so that there's plenty of delay so that players can check it periodically throughout the day, play their turn or resolve an intrigue card that requires everyone's input, and so forth. The games may take longer, but I'm okay with that.

I'm wondering if this app has push notifications if it needs my attention.

Looking it up, it works like a chess clock, in that you have that much time to complete all of your actions during the game, and the clock starts when the turn passes to you. I'm kinda iffy about turn passing to me, and being asleep with the clock running while it's my turn.

Yeah, that sounds like a suboptimal design.

Name's Gennos on the service, by the way. I've added you.

Good news though, you can set the chess timer to as little as 30 minutes to as long as 45 days. For casual play, I'm okay with setting it to that. If we were to, say, have a tournament or something, I'd probably limit it to something shorter.

Yeah, I've completed games over the course of a week.

I know at least for steam you could set it to mail you when it was your turn, which I appreciated. I don't remember if it would mail you when you had to take actions during others turns, though.

Good news! The game does have push notifications! (Which seem to have made orange dots appear on ten of my other app icons too, for some reason.) Now to make the one move I have time for before bed, and see if I remember anything from playing the tutorial last month....

Question, Lucas:

When I just played on your building, and it was waiting for you to choose an adventurer to take, did you get a different notification other than "It's your turn"?

I don't think so; all the emails have just said the same thing but I haven't paid much attention to the push notifications themselves so I can't say for sure there.

The game seems to consider that choice to be the start of my turn. (When I picked my cube, made an action, and then went back instead of confirming my play for the turn it actually sent me back to before picking the cube.) I wonder if it does that to streamline things a bit when there are only two players or if the mobile version makes it way in large games too to prevent people having to log in just to pick a single cube?

I missed the final score because I hit the wrong button when attempting to screenshot it, but good game!

You won 188-169. Stuff kept happening to my mages and made it hard to get quests I could actually finish at the end there, so I ended up just loading up on dudes and money to try and eke out a few extra points. I think I ended up focusing on that and my lord's specific quests too much and missed a possible shot at some decent quests in the last round.

I used that Mage intrigue card, that made me draw another intrigue card, and I drew the same one. I completed that quest that gave me two points per intrigue card I played, so that's why I did that, just to expend them and give me more points in the process.

Speaking of discounts, the game is currently on sale on Steam for half off, and 60% off on iOS. I assume there's a similar discount on Android but since the Google Play store doesn't show you the prices for games you already own I can't confirm. Personally I recommend the mobile versions because mobile alerts are very convenient to know when it's your turn, but according to the reviews the Android version has a lot of phones it just doesn't work with.

I swapped out the quests with my last pawn there and was praying I'd get a good mission I could grab and instantly complete, but I didn't so I grabbed one at random... and the quest that replaced would have been perfect for me.

I bet Liquid's grabbed it for a last few points already, that's how the rest of the game went....

I'm going to be really embarrassed if I don't come in third place after all my grousing in this match.
