I'm going to catch up.

I just found that scene to be quite upsetting.

Huh. I watched Anatomy Park but I thought that came before. Did it air out of order? Because that might change a -lot-.

I don't know about that. The show is deeply cynical, but there's nothing else I've seen yet that goes that dark and disturbing. The raising gazorpazorp episode goes into a pretty funny examination of gender equality and feminism. What was the context for the burqa joke? I haven't rewatched that one yet but it didn't seem terrible at the time.

So it was a little weird how it only took 2 episodes to bring up how Rick Potion #9 ended, and it's almost as weird how it only took 2 episodes to do a Summer focused episode. Not complaining at all, you'd just figure those would be spaced out further, maybe with a proper spotlight episode for Beth in there to mix things up.

Now that I have that out of the way, man I laughed way way too hard at the IMMEDIATE existential crisis of the little butter fetching robot.

And, you know, the basic premise of the whole episode. That was a good one.

Yeah, that one was excellent, and basically just what I wanted after a few weeks of heaviness. I have to wonder if the Fred Phelps jab was added in last minute due to recent events?

I doubt it. South Park is pretty unique in having that sort of crazy episode turnaround time, and random as it is, the whole post-credits bit fits in pretty well with the premise of the episode.

I should listen to more DMX, too.

Rick & Morty might be having one of the best first seasons of any show. It took Venture Bros. two seasons to get this good.

Great episode. The most evil Rick of all...was a Morty!

The one thing I could criticize is it kind of feels like they're using their best stuff up early. Tonight's felt like it could have been the finale for a series that only lasted one season. I know they're getting a second, at least, but I have to wonder how they're going to top the highs from this one.

Honestly, this one didn't really do it for me. It just kinda fell into the trap of being all world-building with no real humor... and the world-building wasn't interesting at all. Yes, there's a lot of parallel dimensions, we knew that. Yes, there are alternate versions of these characters, we also knew that. We've done jokes about their horrible deaths before.

B-plot was solid though, no complaints there, beyond not getting enough of it.

I just realized after going over the episode a second time.. Those weren't brownies.
Latest episode theory.
Could it be that the Evil Morty is Rick-c137s morty, and that he turned evil and framed Rick-c137 to some revenge plot?

It's hilarious when you realize the Council of Ricks ultimately exists to mediate relations between Ricks and other Ricks, and that the plot kicks off because a Rick* was killing Ricks in order to shield himself from all the Ricks, who only really arrest Ricks when they bother other Ricks. The whole thing is magnificently pointless.

*Or whatever Evil Morty is up to, gathering Morties or killing Ricks or whatever. I just wanted to fill a paragraph with Ricks.

Man, I just assumed Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind was the season finale. I had no idea there was still one more to go.

Anyways, Rick-Counters was brilliant.

Or maybe Evil Morty is Rick J19Z7's Morty. If he's the least Rickiest Rick, it would make sense that he'd have the least Mortiest Morty.

OH damn never even thought about that, because I forgot that He said that his morty came from a different plane, though he never mentioned what happened to his.

You also both forgot the part where he never had kids.

Regarding the finale though:

- I find Bird Person way more amusing than I should.
- I kinda wish they'd milked the disastrous Titantic recreation a little more.
- That captain's voice was just straight up Calculon.
- I'm kinda surprised that final post-credits bit made it past censors. Those are pretty plainly just straight up monster vaginas by all appearances.

I'm about mid-way through the season and this? This is some darn good TV programming.

I was not previously aware of the King Jellybean thing though. That was uncomfortable. Which was the point, but still...

OK so I finally watched the next one, Rick Potion. That... ending seemed to be going for a gravitas that was entirely unearned. I honestly felt nothing because Morty is not really a likeable or developed character. I don't know. I mean, I enjoyed it, but it felt like they were trying too hard with that ending.

Though I understand they come back to it, so... I'll just keep watching.

Gazorpazorp episode is brilliant.

Edit: This episode where they watch TV is pretty much laugh-free though

Finished the season; Something Ricked This Way Comes as easily my favorite episode, but everything after the pilot is tied for second place.

Oh man, really? I adored the TV episode. Got a real Beavis and Butthead watching music videos vibe out of them, except the shows and commercials themselves felt improvised rather than the commentary.

Finished the season now. Patchy. Good episodes were great, bad episodes were interminable. Looking forward to more. Comic book in April.

They aren't actually airing until July 26, which sucks because I'm trying to be good and wait without watching the leaks, but I want to so bad.

Oh, man, you SHOULD. So great! It's obvious they realized what the best aspects of the first season were and are really going crazy digging into them. and so many callbacks without seeming gratuitous or random. My one regret is that now it's going to be even tougher waiting for the third episode of the season. Unreserved thumbs up.
