You're right, maybe we should have an "I feel old" thread!

Anyway, this past weekend I realized that, four years ago last Saturday, I graduated from college. Four years ago. I have now been out of college longer than I was in college.

I feel old.

A while back I thought about a "Making People Feel Old" thread, just to be mean. I guess I'll just troll this thread instead.

I knew I saw one of these before!

But remember, you're only as old as you feel.

*looks at thread title*

Oh, right.

I will out-old all of you.
Or at least the vast majority of you. I think fearless leader and a handful of others have a slight edge on me.

I sat down Twilight Princess to play some other stuff for a while. I loaded it back up last night.

That shit came out five years ago.

Uh, depending on where you put your edge cases, either 1986 or 1987. Of course, you're assuming I'm not using any extra fingers lying around...

That's a few years longer than it's been for me, and I am well into the old category. So yes.

Once I can look on any significant adult accomplishment and realize a decade has passed, it's old time.

I have a sister who is 13 years younger than me, and she's my only sibling. I feel old pretty much constantly whenever she's around. I was over at my parents' house visiting, and she told me she'd recently spent a weekend with one of our aunts, and watched some South Park. I told her she should see the movie sometime, and mentioned that I'd seen it when I was in high school (or perhaps my first year of college), and she got all wide-eyed.

"South Park was around back then?" she asked.

Also, I've heard people refer to the Dreamcast as "old-school", so that makes me feel old, too.

People that weren't alive when Jim Henson died can legally drink now! These people have never known a world where he existed, and now they can walk into a store and buy alcohol!

A friend's niece and nephew (10 and 6 y.o. respectively) are still baffled on how I could pick up New Super Mario Bros Wii for the very first time and be instantly good. When I explained that I was playing Mario at their age almost 25 years ago it was like I was giving them the age of the universe, as if the number was so big it couldn't even be fathomed.

Just dawned on me that my summer between high school and college was 15 years ago. I feel old.

I wasn't even born then. I wasn't even conceived then.

I am excited to play Link's Awakening on 3DS because if I play it this year, it will be exactly as long since I last played it (1998, GBC) as I was old upon its initial release (13).

When I was six, the biggest and most awesome thing that could ever happen to me was going to Showbiz Pizza (which has long snce folded into Chuck E Cheese) and getting to play Q*bert and Joust.

When I was seven, I got an Atari 5200, and being able to play Pac-Man, Q*bert, and Qix at home on my own TV blew me away.

I had a Commodore VIC20. When they were new.

The very first music recording I owned was Michael Jackson's Thriller, on cassette. I also owned several vinyl records.

I think of people in their late teens and early 20s as kids.

I try really hard not to feel old, but...damn.

I've never particularly cared for that adage.

Which is why at every opportunity I corrupt it to:

"You're only as old as who you feel."

I knew I was old the day I came home and found several children cycling across my yard. That in itself isn't a problem or anything, but my first thought was, verbatim, "You damn kids! Get off my lawn!"

Thinking about feeling old is something you can waste a lot of time doing. "I'm old, I'm old." Some people are really good at it, and their reward is looking and being old.

Luckily I don't actually know what year that was, but it was most certainly after I was born. Which makes you a silly child. Get off my lawn!
