Just saw the premiere, it was pretty dang good. Reboots of beloved properties are hard to do right, looks like this will be one of the good ones. Can't wait to see more.

Lookin' forward to the show. That was almost exactly what I thought it would be like.

Including Launchpad, except for some reason he annoys me much less now then he did in the original series. Wonder why.

Okay... Name drops include St. Canard, Cooterville, AND Cape Suzette.

Way to dangle those threads, Disney.

I swear that giant sun disc in the garage was a reference to the original DT premiere. Also, "Mom?"
We're FINALLY tackling this? Interesting.

I loved Glomgold's company training video. Also the mural outside his office.

EDIT: Hey, Noelle Stevenson wrote on this episode. As someone who is currently reading through Lumberjanes, I approve. Heck, this version of Webby is clearly Lumberjane material: a nerd who is tough and thirsts for adventure.

My family took a trip to Machu Picchu. Our guide talked about how the Incan City of Cuzco had temple dedicated to the sun god made of gold. The whole time I was thinking...they ripped that story off from DuckTales.

I really liked the premiere episode.

It a little too comedic for my tastes, but that is a minor gripe in very promising pilot. Its been a long time since I watched the old DuckTales tv show, but I feel like this version is going to give the nephews more individual personality which I like.

Also the version I watched had ads for DuckTales in September. Is that when the next new episode comes out?

Wow that was actually a lot better than I was expecting. I figured I was so hyped that I was setting myself up for a let-down, but I thought it was really good! A great synthesis of the comic and cartoon universes that's very much doing it's own thing. I have no idea if the Della Duck stuff will pan out, but it's a smart narrative through-line. Makes you wonder what, exactly, happened to cause Donald and Scrooge's falling out, whether it involved Della, and whether it's the reason the nephews are living with their uncle.

I totally want to spend hours picking it apart and analyzing the awesome takes on each character, but I should probably go to sleep. I'll just leave this here instead:

Look at it. LOOOK AT IIIIT

That's Carl Barks for you. Man did his homework.

I await with bated breath the episode where they work in a delightfully pointless reference to square eggs. (I have no evidence this will happen, I just hope it will.)

The "Skypirates spotted above Plain Awful!" headline on Webby's board seems like a good bit of evidence to me.

Watching the special again, they drop some pretty obvious hints about this.

"Mrs. B said that you would watch the boys! Can you do that without losing them?"
"I knew I couldn't trust you with the boys! Crazy old man. This is the Spear of Selene all over again!"

I also like the idea of Donald Duck, Helicopter Parent. They did a good job giving him a softer side.

This Donald's near-permanent temper tantrum is pretty easy to identify with because all he wants is an ordinary life and he can't even get a stapler to cooperate. Adventuring is the only thing he's good at and he hates it.

You should look up the comic where Donald is feeling down so the boys send him with an edited copy of Junior Woodchuck Guide Book down South of the Border and he reunites with the other members of the Three Caballeros and he ends up leading them through a big adventure.

"Vacation Time" is another classic, and it's probably Barks' richest portrayal of Donald as a character. He's by turns conscientious, peevish, daring, self-centered, and heroic.

For anybody who doesn't have cable Disney threw the premier up on YouTube this morning presumably to stoke interest.

That's some quality duck adventuring right there.

Not viewable outside the US.

That being said, I do have cable, and already watched it. That makes this the second show that I've watched on my PVR this year after Better Call Saul.

I need to cancel my cable.

I have an enormous and crushing need to read this (the Three Caballeros are my favorite thing) and I would appreciate if anyone could let me know how.

It's a Don Rosa story that doesn't seem to have been reprinted anywhere in English, but I'm sure Fantagraphics' Don Rosa Library will get to it eventually.

There are two comics wherein Donald is reunited with Panchito and Jose, and I've read scans of both. One is set in Mexico and one is set in Brazil. I recall that one of them had the title "The Three Caballeros Ride Again," but I don't recall which one it was, nor do I recall the title of the other.
