Default Darwyn Cooke's passed away.

http://darwyncooke.blogspot.com/ His official blog. Just one day after his family announced he had cancer.

God damn, he was one of the best damn artists in the medium.

Single handedly made me a fan of everything he worked on.

I was lucky enough to meet him two or three times while I was living in Halifax through events hosted by Strange Adventures. Awesome guy.

Knew he wasn't long for the world, but that sucks to no end.

Here was my writeup of NF back in the day: https://jlurevisited.wordpress.com/2...-new-frontier/

I would love to see a coffee-table reprint of that cover series, like Marvel's doing with the hip-hop covers.

There isn't a single page of New Frontier I wouldn't want framed and hung on my wall.

Well... Maybe not the ones with the racisms on it. It would give guests the wrong idea.

"Contextually, it's a very gripping scene" I would say, stammering.

New Frontier is the only thing that has ever made me give a shit about Hal Jordan.

I just bought all of his Parker stuff on comixology. It is the only big gap in his output that I haven't read, though it makes up a great part of said output.

He was one of the few artists that could get me to buy a comic just for a cover. This variant theme month got me to buy a bunch of DC books I didn't really want, I just wanted the covers. He will certainly be missed.

Since Octo (I think) asked about it back in 2009 or whenever I did the JLR writeup: did they ever get around to collecting New Frontier (the series) with JLA New Frontier (the one shot) all together?

I think the answer's "no", but DC's amazon listings are always awful about saying what's in every collection.

(and as career-defining as New Frontier is... go read Cooke's Catwoman stuff sometime. It's a GREAT run, probably even better than the Dixon books when it comes to the Batman supporting cast)

This got solicited with the new Previews. His cover on Silver Age Titans Omnibus is maybe the last new illustration of his that'll be published.

Come on Speedy, go to the bathroom and do a line then dance with Donna. Quit being a stick in the mud.

At first, I didn't see the "then" in your sentence...

Forgot to post on this but this is really sad. I loved The New Frontier a lot, particularly his take on the Martian Manhunter (which I would love to see the main universe take a cue from).
