the exceptions on that list were
10. Undertale - I can't replay b/c I haven't played it. Looks interesting though. It shows up on game music youtube playlists that I find entertaining.
and
1. Super Metroid - I just really suck at it. I much prefer watching it played by someone competent.

Me too, pretty much. I like Link's Awakening but Link to the Past is much more fun to actually play. Chrono Trigger is a favorite but I need to wait a few years between replays. Everything else on that list is either "meh" or I outright dislike it.

Played MM9 for the first time in years two nights ago, it's still amazing.

Playing my FFV4JF party now and my only complaint is with the fiesta rules and the fact that there's still no definitive English version of this game.

KSP I haven't touched in a while, it may get bumped at some point.

Played Eclipse last week and it was as great as ever, even though the dice and tiles really screwed me.

FFT I don't replay much anymore, mostly because it's actually pretty slow and time consuming. A remaster with XII's cutscene skip and 2x fast forward I would be all over, however.

The first four are pretty firm and have been for quite some time. The lower spots change based on my mood.

Honestly, I probably only picked Persona 4 in this iteration because I was posting in the Persona 5 thread moments earlier.
Yup, still true. Today I'll say the number five game is Skies of Arcadia.

I share this sentiment!

Edit: Proof of my fickle tastes changing over time! It seems that when I answered this question a year ago only one game remained on my list today.

I am an inconstant connoisseur of video games? One who lacks the wisdom and sagacity to see what truly makes for the most majestic video games? Perhaps.

But I suggest an alternate answer! There are just so many super cool games that it's too hard to narrow it down to five. Video game excellence abounds! We should rejoice at this bounty of electronic entertainment excellence. Huzzah!

That moment when you realize all of your list was a pre-2000 list...

Quote:
- Chrono Trigger
- The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
- Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
- Kirby's Adventure
And if not for Zero Mission, the bonus choices would have been pre-2000 as well... and of course that's a remake of a pre-2000 game.

Y'all have no idea how hard this was to whittle down, and I got tired of trawling through Wikipedia around 2003, so this is solely from memory. I'm sure there's probably something even better I could have thrown on there, but these are all fantastic games.

- Metroid: Zero Mission
- Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Apparently I didn't do one of these lists? I'll do this one Twitter-style, picking the ones that come to mind quickly:

Super Mario World
XCOM: Enemy Within
Rock Band (choose your favorite)
Final Fantasy VI
Mass Effect 2

As per usual when I make these lists, the top three are solid and then I just kinda pick games I like for the last two. Also, at any point in time, FE: Genealogy can also be Path of Radiance.

- Mega Man X
- Tactics Ogre
- Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War
- Breath of the Wild
- Suikoden II

Demon's Souls
Final Fantasy VII*
Resident Evil Remake
Super Mario Bros. 3
X-COM Enemy Unknown

*This slot was hard. I would definitely put one FF game, but this could easily change from day to day. VII, VIII, X, and XV are very close competition for me. I give the nod to FFVII as its the game that got me into FF in a big way and JRPGs in general.

I had to leave off Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Megaman. Five games is tough.

Undertale and Fez are both very close. I wish they were more replayable.

EDIT: I immediately went, "Wait, Katamari Damacy," but OH WELL
Sounds about right.

Oh hey, this thread contains one of my favorite punstorms, and also I can link to Gamespite Quarterly #2 and it works now.
