It uses inkjet technology for a more consistent flavor, and is easier to maintain than traditional vending machines. If it needs refills, you just insert cartridges in the machine and you're done. It also offers a wider variety of flavors, with the option to add a fruity kick to many of Coke's brands. Seems pretty nifty, although the machines are hugely expensive and only five hundred are being tested throughout the United States.
There's one at the new Burger King near my work. I tried Rasp. Coke, it was okay, but nothing I'd go to the store to buy. As for the price, well if the number of people I saw there for it was any indication, it'd make it back in a decent amount of time.

But I wanted to ask where the Pepsi Flavor was.

My nostalgic love for Sun-Drop outweighs any attempt at not buying it when I see it because it really doesn't taste that good!

One of the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines I used had a difficult time getting me JUST water, which was pretty annoying.

The Coca-Cola Freestyle machine at the local pizza place is awful. Nothing ever tastes like its supposed to. Your best bet, IMO, is getting some type of flavored lemonade out of it.

I looked up the locations for those things and there's like ten within a few miles of here. I'll bet there are 0-1 in the state of Arkansas

stupid population centers.

There's a burger place that I go to occasionally that was the first place I ran into one of the Freestyle machines. I love getting Lime Coke from it. We went this weekend, but all the Coke flavors were empty although Coke itself worked. I went with a Cherry Fanta, which turned out to be pretty enjoyable as well since it had a bit of that bite that Orange Fanta has compared to other orange dranks (as it were). I noticed they were refilling the machine as we were getting done eating, so I went to get a Lime Coke to take home. When I got to the Coke screen, I noticed that the flavors were working, but Coke itself was now listed as empty. WTF? The soda I got tasted just the same as it always does.

I was excited to try one of these but since you can only pick from the scripted choices, it ends being about as exciting as spiking your Coke with lingonberry juice at Ikea. Or maybe the one at Firehouse Subs just didn't have as many mix-ins as other sites? I think I could make two unusual Coke variants at best.

Speaking of Fanta, the social committee where I work has started stocking Tangerine Fanta in the honor system fridge. This is good for morale, but bad for my teeth.

Crap! They just opened a new Burger King fifty miles from where I live, complete with a Coke Freestyle machine. This just one month after I swore off carbonated beverages. Oh fate, why must you taunt me so?!

You would drive 100 miles round-trip to get a coke?

No, because my stomach can no longer handle the fizz. But if it could, sure. The city isn't far from where I used to live and is near some relatives my parents sometimes visit, so it's not THAT inconvenient.

Egg creams are quite good as a dessert drink. I'm surprised you can get them in Phoenix since I thought they were pretty much a New York thing. Probably an expat making them.

I'd probably make a day of it, see if there are any good shops around with fun stuff, or a good Toys R Us, something like that.

This thread exists? /gasp

Coke is my special someone of the soft drink world. I love the hell out of it; however the past year or so I've been trying to not use it as my go-to drink for any occasion and it's making it taste all the better when I only have it once in a while.

Recently my girlfriend introduced me to Faygo. I saw it all over the place because for some reason I never figured out it was super popular for a year or two up in Minnesota, but I never cared much for it (probably because the only flavor massively available happens to be the one that I know now to avoid - Red Pop, liquid cherry suckers ugh). Turns out most of their stuff is even better than the big-named crap like Mountain Dew! I never would've guessed!

I love Faygo and am blissfully ignorant of anything about the brand except that Moon Mist is amazing.

This appeared suddenly in Publix here in Orlando about a week ago and I thought "Since 1917? Why haven't I heard of it then?"

which was what I saw in the cardboard display, so maybe I'll try it!

I'm sure its come up before, but I'm drinking a cold glass of Postobon right now and its fucking fantastic. I also learned about another kola nut soda last night, Columbiano la nuestra. Its like Inca Kola but not as cloyingly sweet, so if you're into that flavor give it a shot!

Nothing will ever beat Cucumber Pepsi in terms of ridiculous Japanese soda flavors for me.

And when I say ridiculous, I mean ridiculously delicious.

I got some Orange Diet Coke at the Coke Fantastica DispensoMix (whatever) machine at Six Flags this summer, and it was quite novel, what! Of course you could only get it in those $15 refillable gallon jugs but that's fine with me.

I encountered the Freestyle for the first time at a Firehouse Subs this week. I tried FHS's own cherry limeade, thought it was much too sweet, then had Dasani Sensations (sparkling water) with lime which I liked much more. It sure can mix up a lot of pops! I never imagined raspberry Fanta or vanilla Hi-C until it offered them to me.

I tried one of the Freestyle machines about, hm, three months ago, and wasn't really impressed with it. You can tell the drinks came from cutting-edge technology, because they taste very synthetic. The flavor is extremely sweet and not at all subtle, weighing heavily on the tongue after the first few sips. I'm not saying that standard Coke products are lovingly hand-crafted gourmet beverages, but you definitely notice the difference between the stuff made at a bottler and the robo-Cokes made by a Freestyle machine. I appreciate the freedom of choice the machine gives you, but the end product needs work.
