All too true. Of course, the fun little twist that comes in is that people bitching about words they hate drives me up the wall. It's one of those kinds of things that most people, including most of us, would never call anyone out on in face-to-face interaction because we would sound like the most condescending douches ever.

What I'm trying to say is that I hate this thread and we're all wasting perfectly good rage over completely retarded shit.

These were the two I was going to say. I'm also not a fan of "internets" or "interweb".

My personage and legal entity is of the foremost opinion that this topic, and the assorted contents, messages, posts, and other means and items of communication contained herein, are utilizations of ideas that may or may not be entirely accurate and truthful. Many of these officious words, phrases, turns of phrase, and units of communication are in fact figuratively and literally part of the highest, most well-endowed, and greatest system for the propagation of communication known to mankind, Homo sapiens, and his subordinates. Attempts to constrict, halt, or otherwise impair the growth and evolution of this vital literal ecosystem are doomed to meet with fail, and are not necessary for the functioning of a societal body and culture at an optimal equilibrium. Throw in a myriad in there somewhere.

For just being gross looking words, I don't like 'sew' or 'throat'.

For being dumb words to use, well, mostly just butthurt, I guess. Actually, a lot of people have been using "super" as a replacement for very, and I just want to pick them up, wipe off the valley girl, and set them back down a level.

OMG I am super excited about this week-end! We're going to see a super cool movie at the super new theater!

Inspired by the iPad thread, I can't stand hearing that electronic devices are 'sexy'.

With something like "I could care less", I don't really mind it. I know what they mean, and life moves on. This is the result of having decent Internet discussions being derailed by someone using the phrase and another person correcting them. It just wasn't worth it.

Hey.

I like 'super.'

I know people over 60 who use that word, and yes they say it with a particularly high-pitched lisp.

That's supposed to be a neat replacement of 'attractive' or 'exciting' -- get it!? But driving a car or something isn't really sexy, unless you're a Freudian.

No, an estimate implies that you have enough information to make a somewhat accurate prediction. Guesstimate is right in the middle: you have some information, but not enough to avoid having to take a punt. It's a question of certainty.

I for one am sick of "die in a fire". It was witty back before people memorised it, but now it's just tiresome.

I can't really think of anything... but then I love internet memes and all the quirky little colloquialisms that go along with.

I have a friend who turns red and starts frothing if you misuse the word "ironic". So I make sure to do that as much as I possibly can whenever I'm talking to him. (Don'tcha think.)

Yeah, that must be useful in the winter time and you need a good source of heat.

I imagine the effect is much like if it were to rain on his wedding day.

I'm not sure I understand. I'm talking mostly about excitable young women under 25. No thuper involved.

The first time I turned on a PS2, I definitely felt some sort of attraction. I won't say it was precisely sexual, but it might've been.

Oh..........

I don't know if I hate their use of the word 'super' but I sure hate their use of the word 'cute'. Not that I hate the word cute, but they use it excessively.

The hideous overuse of the term "personal responsibility" to shove blatant fault for an action on the victim of said action.
