Default Football '18: Kaepernick for NFL Commissioner

Owners agree, without input from Player's Unon, to fine teams whose players kneel during the anthem.

I wish those owners would keep their politics out of my entertainment.

Guess part of the deal of WWE going on Fox was Vince giving up on the XFL because this was basically the whole hook when he announced it

Honestly, I live in Pats land and boycotting football all last season didn't really make a dent in any aspect of my life. It's doable.

It's harder for me because the Buffalo Bills is a huge part of my relationship with my dad (although not inextricable).

Seahawks games have become family events for me, and there are aspects of the game I really enjoy watching. I just wish it would stop being horrible.

I realized not too long ago that my relationship with football was almost exactly like my relationship with drinking/smoking/recreational drugs. I really don't enjoy the actual activity, they're all huge wastes of time and money, they're all objectively bad for me/society, and I only really do them in a social setting out of peer pressure obligation.

Pissbaby doesn't want the smelly ol' Super bowl Champions to come to his house anyways.

Of course he made it about the anthem.

As seen on twitter:

The NCAAs needs to be reformed/replaced/abolished, but "EA can't make NCAA video games" is a pretty poor argument IMO.

I find the idea that NCAA athletes aren't effectively participating in a work study program (and thus deserve to get paid for their labor) inane.

In college I had a student job making sure all the facilities were locked up. It was minimum wage for a few hours a week at a time, but it was, like, an actual job with payment and shit. But the people I locked up after got jack shit despite doing what I would argue is much harder work and boy howdy is that some fucked up nonsense.

yeah, i wrote a paper about this several years ago in college because i couldn't think of anything else to do (it was a generic writing class) and i still get totally heated thinking about it. aside from the obvious labor/ethical issues it's just so infuriating when you actually look at how much money is involved with stuff like tv contracts and coaching

EA paid to feature a certain song in its newest Madden game. But the song referenced Kaepernick. EA edited mentions of his name out of the song to put the song in their game. Isn't the NFL wonderful?

Sounds like they'll be editing it back in since people are complaining. While they can't put the guy in the game as a playable character I assume they cut the name out of the song as a defense against lawsuits.

I continue to be excited to see Jordan Mailata on the Eagles this year. He may be a rugby player who has no past experience playing football but he his highlights are incredible. A man who that big, that tall, that quick shouldn't be able to exist. But sine he does I hope he has an amazing football career.

Wow, what a feeble way to inaugurate the new NFL season. It's 3-3 going into the half, the game has been boring with its lack of scoring, and the pace of the game has been abysmally slow with a penalty called seemingly on every other play. And that's not even taking into account the rain delay that postponed the start of the game.

Edit: So the game has been a snoozer so far but I want to mention that I really appreciate that NBC is showing off some new types of presentation. I've seen a behind-the-qb view a la Madden, a close up angle of the first down marker on an obvious third down and short running play, and highlighting the down and distance on the field.

And hey, we just saw Philly Special Mk. 2, by far the most exciting play in the game so far!

Of course. First game of the season and already a "what are catch?" controversy.

I mean, it wouldn't be football without it. Just like how it wouldn't be basketball without nobody being able to agree with what a foul is, or baseball with consistent strike zones.
