Default To boldly tesser where no man has gone before: A Wrinkle in Time

Interview with director Ava DuVernay about her casting choices for the morning. Most notably Meg and the Murry children are now half black. This could be really good!

I think there have been too many Sweet Dreams covers in trailers in recent years, but otherwise this looks great. This was one of my favorite books growing up, and I'm glad it's finally getting an adaptation that seems (at first glance) to get the essence of the material.

I'm hoping it does a good job handling the more difficult conceptual elements of the book. (I remember the idea of aliens possessing completely different but incomprehensible sets of senses blowing my mind when I was 9 or whatever...)

(also, in the field of all ages sci-fi/fantasy with heavy christian overtones, L'Engle>>>>>>>>>>C.S. Lewis)

I'm hoping this is a huge success so they adapt the completely batshit bonkers sequels.

I'm a huge Lewis fan (Til We Have Faces is my favorite novel, hands down), but the kairos series is definitely better than Narnia. Proginoskes alone is far more compelling than any of Lewis's fantasy creatures, and the only depiction of an angel I've come across that gives me the same otherworldly feeling as Ezekiel does.

Yeah, I love how L'Engle goes to truly alien places with her Christian sci-fi/fantasy, portraying the divine as beyond comprehension in a way that is disturbing instead of relying on anthropocentric iconography. It really blew my mind.

The design of the witches seems like they'll tone that down, but I hope they retain enough of it to get that feeling across, especially if they get to adapt the sequels.

I read the book in school and remember not a damn thing about it. Movie looks neat.

With the exception of the "all the same housewives" scene. For some reason that stuck with me although I'm not sure I would have placed it in that book until today.

I didn't feel like the song was a great fit, but fortunately that has nothing to do with the movie itself. Looking forward to seeing this one.
