1. Silent Hill - All

2. Demon's Souls

*********************************

~Why I Like This One Silent Hill Track by Mr. Sensible~

Taking a cue from Deptford upthread, I'd like to talk about why I nominated this particular track. Just about any fan of horror games has some familiarity with the Silent Hill franchise, but the first game tends to get overshadowed by its sequels for a number of reasons. However, I'd argue the original Silent Hill has the strongest soundtrack of any of them, and the track "All" pretty well encapsulates the SH experience in audio form.

Metallic scratches at the beginning creep up in volume before dropping off into silence, like something primal and nameless clawing just at the edges of perception. The alternating harsh tones and dead silence immediately set your nerves on edge. A relentless siren asserts its presence about a minute in, slowly ramping up everything into a cacophony of industrial noise. What started as barely a whisper ends in a roar of indiscernible fury.

This is the part where you die, and this track (honestly the whole damn score) works overtime to make it mean something when it happens.

And just because I feel like it, here's some more dope SH music (not nearly so spooky, but still great):

I love that Knuckles and his misadventures are represented here (I honestly considered nominating the song myself) but I must ultimately go with oops all demons

The Winners: Silent Hill wins it... ALL and Demon's Souls gets a hard fought win.

From my furry Halloween sack, Mr. Sensible gets

The candy bar I rolled into a turd shape before I ate it.

And falz gets...

Um... this might have been sitting around for a while. OK, next up is Falselogic, with his medium-busting choice "Spooky Scary Skeletons" from the holiday of Halloween while SpoonyBardOL brings us "Mad Monster Mansion" (It isn't mad, just very disappointed) from the game Banjo-Kazooie!

Then it's Falselogic again with Suspira from the movie "Suspiria" by the band Suspiria. I mean Goblin. The band is Goblin. Up against that is "Memorial of the Fallen Ones" from Demon's Crest (4 out of 5 imps recommend it) as chosen by Sarge

The Deadline is 11 PM ADT!

1. Mad Monster Mansion

2. Memorial of the Fallen Ones

For the record I came damned close to voting for the Suspiria Theme. A friend of mine who's way into Argento films also recommended the main theme from Tenebre:

Sorry. Madhair coined the term and I've been a fan of it ever since.

It's OK. It's less a complaint and more worrying about my own cognitive abilities.

The Winners: Banjo-Kazooie goes to round twouie and Demon's Crest also wins.

Lets see what we have left in my sack. For SpoonyBardOL we have...

That it in remarkably good shape for being in a sack all this time.

As for Sarge, he's getting....

Energy Bar is never afraid to bring race into the discourse.

Next up, RT-55J gives us a two-fer... "Stage 1 and 8" from Bio-Hazard Battle, the first game in the Bio-Hazard series. Such humble beginnings. It's up against "The Sacrifice, Part 1" from Seiken Densestu 3, as chosen by q 3, in the place to be!

Then Fluffer Ender Pug brings us his lone pic "The Natural World - Ambient - C" from the game LSD Dream Simulator. But this avante garde piece is going against something more traditional: "Frigid Hell (Stage 2)" from Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon as chosen by Regulus!

The Deadline is 11 PM ADT!

Damn, I was so busy I missed like 3 battles! This first one was a hard battle, because, sorry guys, I wasn't really much of a fan of either one. This was kind of a lesser of two evils here, and I'm going with Seiken Densetsu 3.

As for round 2, I did appreciate the disturbing otherworldly-ness of LSD, but it was just too short. Very off-putting, which is good for the overall theme of the contest, but not a lot of substance. Bloodstained gets this win.
