The ideal number is nine, according to people who play Mafia 24/7. I couldn't say how much better nine is than eight.

6/3 feels fairly even. 3 misses and you lose. 3 hits and you win. but what do i know...

You want two Mafia and seven Town.

Taeryn, you're forgetting that mislynches cost you a townie on top of the night kill. With 2-7, one mislynch and one NK puts you at 2-5.

Quack. That means yes. It also means "No" and "bread", but for the purposes of this post, I'm going with yes.

I got an invitation from those Mafia Championship people in my PM box:

Quote:
Hi Gerad

I'm hosting a very big Mafia Championship tournament, featuring 187 different communities, and would like to extend an invitation to your community.

The Mafia Championship is a super fun event that's been running since 2013. Over the years, 270+ communities, 50+ nationalities and 600+ representatives have participated. More importantly, it has created strong bonds between communities, resulted in countless friendships, and it has even led to people getting married, believe it or not

The concept, to explain it very briefly, is that each community elects one person to go represent them in the Championship. The games are played on a forum (but the games are automated). I'd be stoked to see you guys represented. Is this something you think that you or anyone else from your community would be interested in?

Guild represented you guys way back in season 1 and 2.

If you have any questions, just let me know.

The invitation: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...A9VG5p4W4/edit
Anyone interested in going and representing us?

The invitation link doesn't work (the ellipse is literal in that URL).

How'd Guild do in those games, anyway?

Oops. Full link.

I don't have interest/time to do it myself, but it'd be cool if someone else wanted to!

I'm guessing Guild flamed out immediately, but I don't actually know. I'll try to look it up; I'm curious now.

Haha, I guess I know Guild!

Season 1 Thread. He was lynched day 1 and was mafia.

Season 2 Thread. He was lynched day 4 and was town. They didn't get a single mafia member.

Ouch.

Your representative should be prepared for having to read upwards of 600 posts per 24 hours during the early stages of the game. Additionally, there’s a requirement that each player must make at least 10 posts per Game Day. Only active players should apply/participate. I repeat: Your chosen player needs to be able to promise a good amount of activity on a daily basis!
Ha ha ha. Nope.

Oh wow. Here I was idly thinking, "Maybe if no one else volunteers..." but nope.

Anyone used to TT Mafia should also know that typical Mafia rules have unlimited day lengths. They only end on a majority vote. Day 1 can easily last a week or two. Don't let that turn you off if you're interested -- it's just a different style of game.

But nope, no way can I commit to reading/posting that much.

Yeah, not something I have time for either. Recently I barely have time for standard TT mafia games and often get called out for not being as thorough as expected.

Maybe we have someone with more time on their hands who would do it...maybe a college student...perhaps someone who does bite... (ha I'm mostly kidding)

These games aren't like that.

Various important information to clear up:

- The days aren't endless. You can choose between 12-hour day phases/12-hour night phases, 36/12, 48/24 and 72/24. Person with most votes on them at deadline is lynched. It's whatever you prefer. Same goes for end of day deadline - if you prefer 8 PM EST, then you're likely to get into a game with a deadline close to that.

- Finally, you can choose yourself when you want your game to start, from between April 29 to June 17. So if you just have a 2-week stretch somewhere in there where your schedule is looking good, then you're good to go.

- We are adding a post restriction this year, so we expect the average activity to drop a bit from last year. It's still gonna be active, though, expect like 500 posts per 24 hours during the first few days. After that, it will drop, as there are less players in the game.

So yes, if you find the activity absolutely impossible, then it's not a good idea. But other than that, you're pretty much able to determine yourself which kind of game you want to play. I'd say if you have a couple of hours spread out over a typical day, you should be good.

Also, the games are automated, and there's a ton of nice functions that make it easy and smooth to play the game. Isolating functions, bookmark functions, note-taking functions, automatic votecounts (that you can request yourself), etc. etc.

Here's an example game thread: https://www.mafiauniverse.com/forums...a-Championship

Haha, not that old! Just in (my third year of) graduate school. I joined Talking Time and stopped lurking to play in the first mafia game, when I was in 10th grade.
