Correct! The correct code was indeed 2 - 3 - 1.

So that means that after three full rounds, the standings are:

Team Gerri: 1 Miss, 0 Interceptions
Team ADestilDoesVacation: 1 Miss, 0 Interceptions

Next code PM will been sent to Gerad shortly. Once he posts his clues, it's Destil and Turtle's turn to discuss and make a guess, after which Mogri can make his guess, at which point I'll reveal the correct code.

I'm thinking 4-2-1.

Kick and Punch line up
Chain [mail | link | letter]
Air seems to line to line up with the elements more than the other clue set too

Just adding in the incorrect guess here while I think about it.

1 Fire Ice Power
2 Mail Link (Shower, wrong)
3 Wrap Beam Shower
4 Kick

A shower chain is a thing you use on your shower curtain, isn't it?

I think it may be.

Leaning toward chain for #2 which would be letter yes.

I also like Punch + Kick.

I'm having a hard time making Air fit with Fire, Ice and Power, though. It's the power that throws it off, since there was never a Power Man?

Maybe the word is Energy?

I'm good with 4-2-1, though. May be 4-2-3 but I can't for the life of me come up with what that word would be. You want to bold it or should I?

If we're in agreement, I can since I'm making a post with this reply.

Correct! 4 - 2 - 3 it is!

1: Cargo, Pair, Wishful Thinking
2: Traffic, Police Station, Central
3: Firetruck, (Pair), Descend
4: Apple

Chalk could go with 4 for "teacher"
Attic could go with 3 for "ladder"
Siren could go with 2 for something police-related

Good call on 4. Those were my thoughts as well on 2 and 3, but I want to put a little more thought into it this afternoon.

I think chalk being 4 is as good as we'll get. I can't see how that goes with any of the others.

Definitely like siren for 2. It could be 3, but I think 2 fits better.

Attic is giving me trouble. I agree with seeming like 3 for ladder, but can't make Destil's pair guess fit with that. On the other hand, I don't know how I could make it fit with 1.

So I'm on board with 4-3-2 if you want to lock it in.

Incorrect! The correct code was 4 - 3 - 1.

That makes two Misses, and this is the end of a round, which makes Gerad and Mogri the winners! Congrats!

The results:
  • Round 1:
    • Team 1: Fire-Wrap-Mail, 1-3-2, OK
    • Team 2: Firetruck-Cargo-Traffic, 3-1-2, OK
  • Round 2:
    • Team 1: Beam-Ice-Link, 3-1-2, OK, No Interception
    • Team 2: APPLE-POLICE STATION-PAIR, 4-2-1, MISS, No Interception
  • Round 3:
    • Team 1: Power-Shower-Kick, 1-3-4, MISS, No Interception
    • Team 2: Central-Descend-Wishful Thinking, 2-3-1, OK, No Interception
  • Round 4:
    • Team 1: Punch-Letter-Air, 4-2-3, OK, No Interception
    • Team 2: CHALK-ATTIC-SIREN, 4-3-1, MISS, No Interception
The word lists:

Mogri/Gerad:
  1. FLOWER
  2. CHAIN
  3. BUBBLE
  4. BOXER
Turtle/Destil:
  1. SHIP
  2. DOWNTOWN
  3. LADDER
  4. TEACHER
Good job, all. No interceptions, but each team had at least one of the other team's words pinned down, so it was only a matter of time. Turtle's two sets of clues tried to get clever, but perhaps too clever? "Pair" was meant to go with "Ship", as in "shipping", i.e. that thing that fans on the internet love to do, while "Siren" was also meant to go with Ship, as in those creatures of myth that lure sailors to their doom. It was intended to throw Mogri and Gerad off the scent (which it did!), but looks like it threw Destil off as well!

Anyway, I'll leave it up to ya'll if we want to play another round or not, and with the same teams or not. I'm certainly game to run more. And if anyone has been reading along and would like to join in now that they see how it works, feel free to say as much! It's a simple, clever game, and I like it a lot.

ETA:
aturtledoesbite Yesterday at 7:50 PM i'm almost tempted to ask if i could use, as my clue for ladder, <, but no that'd be silly
JBear Yesterday at 7:51 PM I mean, also, the other team is Mogri and Gerad?

God damn it.

I was thinking of a pair of legs for a ladder (connected by rungs). And OTP was one of the clues I dismissed as "too obvious."

I'm happy with our diverse set of almost-wholly-flower-unrelated clues for "flower."

I will gladly play another round.

Gerad's intentional mislead on "Air" to go with the other elements used previously was also quite good, I thought.

I am glad I had Chain down from like the second round, though. That was fun to put together.

Ha, thanks. Makes up for me thinking "shower chain" was more of a thing than "shower bubble" (like, a chain you pull on to open the drain of a bathtub? I guess?). I think the reason why I ultimately went that way was because we had that whole conversation about coming up with obtuse clues for "chain", and I thought "well, I guess this is the time!"

I'm definitely up for another game, same teams or mixed up.

"Wishful Thinking" for "Ship" is also very good, though I don't think I'd have received that message correctly!

JBear could tell you, I guessed on that one. In fact, I actually posted my logic at him at the time as a sort of notepad.

We should sprinkle in some new blood for round 2. Surely we have at least a couple of people lurking in this thread that are up for giving this a try.
