Oh yeah, speaking of weird sodas, I was at a fancy sandwich shop in town and they've started hand-making there own. The one I had was a "Switchel" which is evidently some hipster-trendy vinegar based thing, but anyway it was pineapple-raspberry flavored and pretty darn delicious. S'posed to be all healthy and shit too, but who knows.

Turkey Hill has been selling Haymaker drinks (switchel by another name) for a while now. The low sugar tea variety is damn refreshing.

A dangerous turn of events: the new "Summer Edition" Red Bull may be the best grapefruit soda I've ever had.

Holy crap, Pepsi has really been knocking it out of the park with its latest drinks. 1893 is pretty good (more so the citrus cola than the ginger cola), and the Mountain Dew crafted drinks aren't too shabby, either. But this Mountain Dew Spiked is like next level tasty! Raspberry + lemonade + cactus juice = yummy.

I think Cactus Cooler is orange pineapple. I always thought there was cactus in there somewhere, but now I'm not sure.

Wait, what's wrong with this? Cinnamon is awesome, I could see this being pretty good.

I'm just having terrible flashbacks of Pepsi Holiday Spice, which was the furthest thing from good. Mmm, caustic!

Cola's already a bit caustic. i can only imagine what the cinnamon will do with that.

Yeah, I was wrong about the Pepsi Fire. It tastes like a failed experiment.

What kind of experiment. Like "improvised recipe" experiment or "nuclear fission" experiment

EDIT: or to put it another way is it merely unpleasant or is it truly abhorrent

It just tastes like someone dumped half a bag of red hots in your Pepsi. They are in the neighborhood of a tasty drink, but the flavor combo they going for is never going to get there. I like cinnamon and thought a cinnamon flavored soda could be good; Pepsi Fire had disabused me of that notion.

India has a fondness for spicy colas (much as Israel loves its super-sour soft drinks). I think Thums Up is one of their most popular brands, so a cola with spice can work. Pepsi just hasn't found that magic formula yet.

Pepsi Fire sounds gross, but if I see it I'll try it.

I've loved Thums Up the few times I've tried it and would drink it again way sooner than any stateside cola.

Via Thrillist

CLEARLY CANADIAN IS BACK TO TELL LACROIX WHO'S BOSS

Quote:
After a somewhat perilous 2015 crowdfunding campaign that encountered a series of delays, the company just confirmed to Real Simple that Clearly Canadian is making its way back into US stores, and is already available -- in the signature blue bottles -- in Cost Plus World Markets and select Hy-Vee stores. We've reached out to the company to find out how many of the brand's 11 original flavors will eventually be making their way into circulation, but CC's wholesale ordering site is only taking orders for five varieties: Country Raspberry, Mountain Blackberry, Orchard Peach, Wild Cherry, and unflavored, and all of those (except unflavored) are currently for sale Cost Plus World Market, according to the store's website. We also asked the company about future distribution plans, and will post any updates here.

Picked up some Pepsi Fire today got the last one at work. Not bad, but not good. It's spicy enough to notice, but not as spicy as ginger beer.

If one were to use actual cinnamon I could see it being good. But yeah I can imagine already sweet soda with shitty Hot Tamales "cinnamon" being pretty awful.

I picked up some Pepsi Fire on Monday night, to give it a shot. I don't exactly love it, but personally, the "Pepsi with liquefied Red Hots in it" flavor is appealing enough to me that I might pick up a box again sometime. It's kind of an acquired taste, like beer or black coffee or those bizarre cappuccino potato chips.

Definitely best to drink it cold, though. At room temperature...ugh...

I haven't seen Pepsi Fire anywhere yet. Where are you people finding it? I actually enjoyed Pepsi Holiday Spice when it came out, so this appeals to me.
