A few tempting options, but I can't chance Destil probably moving Blue this turn and possibly bringing it home with a 3 next turn.

Discard, send blue to the exit.

A bit risky, but we'll move Blue for this one.

I think my board wasn't updated? My blue should be on E-2?

EDIT: Also JBear's blue is at the temple?

Turn 33

No one could be bothered to exit an adventurer this turn.

Falselogic (17)

Destil (18)

At this point, you know how the game will play out. Go ahead and declare the rest of your moves. You can make them conditional on previous plays if you want -- for example, "if Destil moved his pink last turn, then move pink to the temple; otherwise, move blue" -- but I don't see a lot of wiggle room in your plays here.

In case you've forgotten, there are two 2-movement tiles after this one.

I don't believe that this is correct? There should be a 2 and a 3 left in the draw stack, if the set of remaining tiles you posted a few days ago is correct.

Anyway, I'm not super down with queueing up the rest now? Like, I get why you're doing it, but I'm not super comfortable with it. Anyway, I'll think it over.

Also, FL & turtle may want to revise given that it will be a 2/3, not 2/2.

Alright, let me see if I can wrangle this, under protest:

I'll use this tile and the next to get pink home, hopefully in advance of Destil (which may hinge on what tile is drawn next, as Destil needs two 3s to get his pink home), and then move orange off with the final tile, hopefully at the same time as turtle.

If I regret something in there because of an unanticipated intermediate game state, I'm going to be salty. I'm pretty sure I've got the win locked down, though, even if both of my "hopefully"s in the spoiler don't work out how I expect.

Even if the tiles come out different. None of my plays will change anything as far as I can see. So,

Pretty sure I advance pink 3, then blue if the 2 comes up and pink if the 3 comes up, then the other. Getting to an exit one turn later isn't worth not bringing both of them home.

Close match, and great scores all around! I hope you enjoyed playing.

I will not be running another game of Karuba, but I would be happy to pass on the files I used and an explanation to anyone else interested in running the game (or even just in learning how to do this sort of thing).

I did! Thanks for running it!

I was worried that I'd regret it, and I did for a bit in the middle there, but I think that, ultimately, placing that extra gold tile on the board and sending brown in the wrong direction to pick it up won me the game. Certainly I broke even with that decision at worst. Shame that it ruined my nice-looking connected grid though.

Good Game, guys.

God, why did I throw away tile 4 like that? Several turns later I look at my board and I'm all "I could have just put it where I put 22."

What are the differences between the physical game and the version you were running? Just scoring minutia like taking a gem when you tie?

Yup.

also i like how both 24 and 30, the two NWS exit tiles, were at the bottom of the pile

I'm curious to know how the tile-laying works in person. How do you simultaneously encode your decisions in secret?

Aye, I'd been waiting all game for one to let my orange and pink escape their corner, and ultimately had to blow a 4-exit on it instead. Good thing that there were twice as many 4-exists as I was expecting! I never actually looked at the tile distribution, but it had more straights and more 4-exits than I was expecting, although I probably should have expected precisely that if I'd bothered to do the math.

After I saw how everyone else played, I was increasingly convinced that my very first tile lay was an unrecoverable mistake that was going to cost me the game, but it turned out fine.

I believe the answer is "you don't", which is why Mogri mentioned the comment at the beginning at how if someone really wanted to, they could at least guarantee a tie with the person next to them by just copying their actions.

There's no provision for it in the manual, but you could at least try for simultaneous reveal. In practice, this is kind of a chill game, and we don't worry about it. That might not be a good fit for every group, but it works out for us.

Who would ever try and play a game to get a draw, though?

It just doesn't jive with human nature.
