Same here. there's a local board game group that I go to rarely. Its fun, but most of the groups aren't looking for players. They come as a group and play their game with maybe one open seat. I have been able to join a couple games, so it is fun. I just wish the folks running it were more interested in including new people

I've always wanted to try playing a game through the forum. There's been a couple LPs that were done here like that, but I never caught the signup. they're still fun to watch.

I get ads for tabletop simulator on Steam pretty frequently. Anyone here know if its any good?

Tabletop Simulator is how I play most of the games in my collection at this point.

Tabletop Simulator is pretty awkward to use at first, and ethically... grey, but it's pretty great on the whole. It lends itself much better to certain kinds of games than others, though. Any game in it that requires managing a ton of tiny components is pretty much a non-starter for me.

The clear best game to play in it is, of course, Buscemi: A Game for Kids:

Hey all. Just a quick note that anyone who still intends to submit a list for this has only two days left to do so.

It has been and continues to be a really shitty week around here, so I understand that people might not be in the mood for this sort of thing ATM, and I get that, as I'm feeling pretty personally affected by this stuff too. I certainly don't want to seem like I'm making light of things. Maybe I should extend the deadline another week and push back the start of this a bit? I dunno.

I'm open to opinions.

For the moment, though, assume that the deadline is fast approaching, so if you want to submit a list then you'd better not put off making it much longer. I'm still looking forward to finding out what games ya'll like.

If there's not a lot of submissions, I'm in favor of giving it another week. I am super excited for this list though...

It's a bit lower than usual, I think (I'm banking on at least a few 11th hour submissions), but we've definitely hit critical mass, so no worries there. I haven't done any actual math yet (easier to back stuff out if anyone submits a revised list), but there's certainly enough people participating that nothing will be able to make it on the list with fewer than 3 votes, or perhaps 2 very high ones. I'm just more concerned that there might be people who would like to participate otherwise but aren't feeling up to it right now, and if anyone feels that way and would like an extension, they need but ask.

Hmm based on your description of the high bar for votes I weep for my top games.

But then I unweep cause I'll learn about so many cool games to try.

I think we need something like this more than ever. But if we need an extra week for submissions it wouldn't hurt. The more the better.

I'm still working on mine.

'Working' meaning being in bed roughly 26 hours a day with a death flu.

Phone is not conducive to list management.

Can I submit another 25?

Some topics I struggle to think of enough to fill one list...

What if he shaved it off? Or dyed it a different color (and by it I mean just his beard)?

Will the countdown be in this thread or another one? I always seem to have trouble finding them...

So the first post doesn't start with telling people how they can participate in a vote that's closed

Yeah, it's much cleaner to have a thread starting with a new post containing the winners and diving right into the list than having five pages of rules discussion first.

Plus, there's always this handy thread, stickied in this very subforum, which links to every nomination and final list thread.

Holy cow, how have I never seen this before now! Ten Brides for Temujin: The Game of Courtly Seduction on the Wild Steppes sounds great but I'm also looking forward to all the entries in the Semper Fi! series. But Flash Crash Trader must be a mistake. That was clearly a FT headline (but perhaps the game could tie that in with a salmon colored art theme).

You did! Along with a couple of other folks who I'm betting had a lot of late nights finishing homework assignments at the last possible moment in school.

Thanks one and all for your votes. Your board game distinctiveness has been added to the collective.
