People are saying We Happy Few is bad because it's not as story-driven as the E3 teasers implied, but given that the developers explained it as "it's a metaphor for how antidepressants are bad" I think it's probably for the best the story isn't particularly forefronted.

I think people are saying it's bad because it's a crappy video game

I mean there's a lot wrong with it but people are like "we expected, like, a spiritual successor to Bioshock" and, well, I guess I could see Ken Levine directing a game about how brain drugs are bad mmkay

If the reveal trailer wasn't intended to invoke memories of Bioshock then I don't know what they were doing.

My point was even if they'd been able to carry the vision everyone expected of them it was doomed to be an incoherent game because the story concept was incoherent.

The phrase "woomy-hara kawase" came to my head the other day (no doubt inspired by all the blade strangers coverage we've been seeing) and now I'm sad about the lack of minigames in the splatoon 2 matchmaking menu

... I misread that as "womby" and now I'm just picturing some kind of like... Binding of Isaac platformer where you're navigating with your own strangely elastic umbilical cord.

You know, it's really great that the PS Store will download your pre-orders right after you purchase them so you can play as soon as it unlocks.

No wait, I got Nintendo's e-shop mixed up with Sony.

Don't worry I got another 4 more hours before I can start DQXI.

Also the PS Store is slow as hell to navigate and confusing about what is in a package. Nintendo actually is faster and better at informing the customer.

Some pre-orders on PSN do let you pre-load. I did it with Dragon's Crown Pro.

Many do, but they wonít preload unless you prompt them to, like, a day or so beforehand.

This is because ???

Man, I was looking forward to picking up a Neo Geo Mini, but reading a review sucked away all my interest. The joystick has no gates or switches, itís basically an analog stick. The absolute worst thing you can play old SNK games with.

Oh well. I guess I should be happy I saved that $110.

Yeah, it is something that is SO CLOSE to being something I would absolutely love to have, but certain key things about it have made it very easy for me to skip it without any sense of yearning.

Man I want to play Dragon Quest XI but I'm still working my way through Octopath Traveler and it seems such a bad decision to interrupt a JRPG I'm currently enjoying with another one, especially when they so rarely grab my attention these days.

I can relate. Might've bought Dragon Quest XI if I wasn't on a Final Fantasy binge, and that's looking like it'll now be replaced by a Marvel's Spider-Man and LEGO Marvel* binge. And even if I hadn't bought Spider-Man yesterday I'm just not in the DraQue mood right now. I'd rather run a cafť with dragons than go questing at the moment.

* Just playing LEGO Marvel Superheroes right now, I'm in no big rush to add LEGO Avengers Movies or LEGO Marvel 2: Oops! No X-Men** or Fantastic Four*** to that list, especially not when there's still LEGO Dinosaur Funtime Playset Jurassic World to get and LEGO Green Lantern Justice League Batman 3 for me to remember to get back to.

** Admittedly I have less of a problem with no X-Men in LEGO Marvel 2 than in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, but that's largely because the Marvel Universe has gone to a lot of weird places, places that can be better represented in a game that doesn't have to give a good chunk of its potential roster to one particular comic book property.****

*** No Fantastic Four stings less, though I do miss Doctor Doom. And LEGO The Incredibles is basically a Fantastic Four game of sorts, right? Like, all the family is missing is somebody on fire.

**** I would totally buy a dedicated LEGO Spider-Man or LEGO X-Men game.

The left joystick on my PS3 controller is crapping out so I guess that part of my backlog has all been canceled, just when I had decided to go and tackle it. It lasted just long enough for me to get through the first ending of Drakengard 3 but I've nearly sprained my thumb trying to play the second branch.

Besides the fact that Iím simply unable to play the Capcom Beat-Em-Up Bundle while Iím at work, by the time i get the dang thing in front of me Iíll still only be able to play one Of the games in it at a time!

But there are seven! Six of which are either completely new to me, or already beloved! I donít want to dramatize, but, yíknow... Sophie only had to choose between two Things!

I know that the correct choice is not Knights of the Round, but that does not narrow things down.

I know this is not how things work, but the Capcom Beat Em Up Bundle just has me wary that someday they'll release the beat em up I actually want to own for replay purposes, Shadow over Mystara

Yeah, I don't think they got Shadows over Mystara in Burtts Corner.

(I'll take rural New Brunswick dad jokes for $1000, Alex.)

King of Dragons is hardly a substitute for Shadows over Mystara for a good many reasons, but the most egregious is that it doesnít let you heave snakes at anyoneís face, like you bought out the store at the Discount Snake Warehouse.

The sad thing about Capcom beat'em-ups is that the best ones tend to be licensed properties.

It isn't? The Wiki says it is.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List...s_for_Xbox_One

It's not one of my personal favorites in Capcom's long line of beat 'em ups, though. For my filthy lucre, Vanillaware's Dragon's Crown does a better job of living up to the promises made by the two D&D games.

Why isnt there a 3D platformer where you play as a heavy, clumsy, and presumably greasy giant hamburger wearing a lil' hat?

But it's still a Capcom brawler wearing a DnD skin, even if Capcom didn't have the official license yet.
