You Say TurboGrafx, I Say CoreGrafx (Let’s Call The Whole Mini Console Thing Off)

I saw an update that says the dev team has had a lot of changes (both pandemic and personally) and not much free time, so that may be a bigger contributing factor. My guess is that they were trying to get beyond the proof-of-concept phase to something they considered releasable, but just couldn't get there.

Honestly, some of the hardware stuff with the Mini scares me a bit, especially with controller ports going wonky. Apparently it's really easy to fry the USB controller chip. Basically, make sure your power supply gives a solid 5V, and not above (i.e. don't use a PSU from a Pi, many of which are 5.1V).

I'm pretty sure I ended up going to the SNES/NES Classic PSU, but right now I've put the system up since I've been doing everything via the MiSTer. That PC Engine core is fantastic.

the only thing I'm really missing is Salamander, because I could not care less about Splatterhouse. Hooray!

You should care about Splatterhouse, because Splatterhouse kicks ass. (Not as much ass as Salamander.)

Splatterhouse is on the PC Engine Mini, and according to what I've read, it's uncensored in that version, so apparently better.

In any case - I got this thing yesterday and it fucking rules. I played through the entirety of Rondo of Blood last night, and I'm like halfway through Darm Tower in Ys Book I. I've barely scratched the surface of this thing - from what I've played of it, I like the Turbografx port of Gradius more than the NES one, and I've never played the Neutopia games, meaning I've got basically two new (to me) Zeldas to play through. The menus are charming as hell, I've got a wireless controller on the way, I just wish it were hacked so I could add the fantranslation of Ys IV, which is all that's missing as far as games I want on it. Well, and Salamander.

Neutopia was a fun playthrough a year or so ago for me. Definitely one of the stronger Zelda clones.

I need one. How can I get one.
Linked it in Discord already, but for anyone besides Gaer who wants one, Amazon Japan has them in stock for ¥11,313 (~$85 USD) as of this post.

Beat Ys Book I on here, for the first time ever. I think I prefer it to the later Chronicles version - it's hard to put my finger on why, but I guess I just like the graphics and music more. There's a real jazzercize-esque rock to the music and I love it. I also found the last boss fair, rather than a crap shoot like on PSP. I do wish we could retranslate it a bit, and sub "demons" in for "goons" and "Doga" in for "Colin," but that's nitpicky. Onto Ys II!

Oh, I probably should have posted this here...

Nadia finally managed to get me a TG16 mini for Christmas!

And we streamed ourselves playing it a while back:
