Then we’re at 676!

I’m midway thought Luminous Avenger iX, but I’m holding off on adding to that tally until I’m finished with it

Okay, found the For Real Final Boss to be more... frustrating than fun, since, like, every boss fight is built around the safety net that Prevasion gives you, given the ludicrous amount of STUFF on screen at any given time... and the final boss isn't affected by Prevasion, but I DID beat its first form, which is the Robot Master-ier of the two so... gonna count that as 8 more.

684/800!

Got all the way up to the final boss of Luminous Avenger iX 2 before realizing there was an infinite use Free Full Healing button, and after a solid hour of *trying* to beat the final boss without it, I decided to... look at the options menu and see it sitting there on the controller diagram.

HELPFUL BUTTON, THAT.
Anyway, that was easily my favorite of the Gunvolt games, and now I'm looking forward to GV3, but for now, I am adding 12 more for a new grand total of 697/800

Just because Santa is no longer terrified of the prospect of robot terror that doesn’t mean we can’t go for a high score!

Our previous record was 1177, and we still have another 3 weeks to go!

I still got a lot of Megas to Man...
Incidentally, Gunvolt 3 is friggin' amazing and I'm very happy they finally figured out how to make these things

Speaking of, that game is now finished; and so 14 more are added to the docket; so we have 836
Ultimately, I would give the nod to Luminous Avenger iX 2 as being the superior of the two, but only by a thin margin. Like comparing Mega Man 2 to Mega Man 3

Why is there a tiny voice in my brain screaming as loud as it can "YOU SHOULD PLAY SOME SUPER ADVENTURE ROCKMAN FOR MEGAMAS, JOE! FUCKIN' DO IT"?

Went through a newish hack of 2: Rockman 2: StalkerMaestro vs The Rockmen for another 8.

Pretty good in an unremarkable way. It's a speed hack where everything mores something like three times faster than normal which creates quite a bit of challenge. Item 1's been changed to simply give you invincibility frames, which I think gives a pretty good idea of what kind of experience it is. It looks and sounds great too. As far as I can tell all the graphics are taken from the other NES games, but are recombined very artfully to give levels a professional and coherent look while still having their own identity, probably the most successful bit of the hack. My favorite change though is to Quickerang, now called Mega Clone, which replaces the shots with Mega Man sprites. Mega launching dozens of copies of himself into enemies is way more entertaining than it should be.

Well, the plan is for Nadia and I to return to streaming "Mega Man Mayhem" on December 17th, starting with the very first game, so we'll see how many we can get then. =)

Did a 1cc of Mega Man 2 yesterday. So... 8 more? Does the Wily Alien count? 9? However many.

Look, Octo, I know that Metal Man and Wood Man are easy, but I think they still count. 859+8=867.

Finished off that most underrated of the Mega Men, MM4.
If not for the existence of MM2 and MM3, I’d be tempted to call it the secret best of the series.
Eight more Robot Masters on the pile!

That’s eight OoNQ fights, two distinct fights against Black Knight, Enchantress and Reize; so 12 more

887!

Tried out another recent speed hack: Mega Man 1: Speed Bomber and it was really good! Usually I don't go for 1 hacks but this one surprised me. It's tightly designed all around from boss battle and weapon tweaks to level and visual design. Super strong on all fronts. Not showy but just good well-considered craftmanship. The biggest surprise was the central gimmick. The game's speed up to about twice normal and it feels crazy good. Movement and control is simultaneously silky smooth but also nicely chunky, like if some mad genius had combined the best of both kinds of peanut butter into the ultimate spreadable. Highly recommended.

6 more masters down plus Copy Man and Yello Devlo (if he counts)

894!

And not formally adding my count from King of Cards yet, but just keeping a running tally; Specter Knight and The Baz were put down

And fitting the criteria of “Looks like Mega Man if you squint” I’ve also been playing Mind Seize; so we can add;
The Stranger
Vagrant Hanu
Annihilator Unit
Duke Atlas

But I won’t update the list until I deem the game finished

Well, there was a Star Man waiting in the sky, but then Mega Man came and saw him, and I think he blew his mind!

With Water Wave!

Uh. I beat Mega Man 5. I’m saying that I beat Mega Man 5. That takes us to 902, doesn’t it?
