So I am going to be running a Thunderdome soon and thought it would be good to have a thread to discuss the ins and outs of doing so.

One thing I noticed during the Shuffledome is that a lot of the youtube videos don't allow embedding so you have to open them in a new window. But they don't show you that they don't allow it until you click the play button in the thread here. I find that really annoying. In cases like that do you feel like the embeds should just be replaced with links or do you still like to see the thumbnails? Because I do see the value of still keeping the thumbnails - it sort of gives a face to each competing entry.

Also, I have an etiquette question - should a host wait to post their nominations until after someone else has? Looking at the past domes on TT3 it does seem like most hosts have waited to do that but I don't know if it is a rule - either formally or informally.

This is a tricky one. I like to see the thumbnails, personally. I was also thinking of maybe picture links to the song but that seems like one more boring extra step for the host.

I don't know if there is. As current host, I'm fine either way.

Or the participants. I think what I am going to do is have the embeds but if they don't work (for me) then I will also have links to the yt video.

In the olden days we didn't have embeds. I had to center links under pictures that I had to search myself.

It was such a relief once embeds were implemented.

Do we have a term for the person who is running a Thunderdome? I was thinking it could be Entity in honor of the first and best person to run Thunderdome.
