Who is John Gutter? The Pizza Tower Thread

I haven't even played this game yet but the speedruns of it have me, frankly, obsessed. Turns out that the way to get me to go from thinking Wario Land 4 is "OK I guess but not as good as 2 or even 3" to "quite possibly one of the best games ever" is to replace all the weird, precision gimmicks with more going fast. Also, more EWJ-style toilet humor, I guess.

Don't worry, there is golf if you're one of the sickos who likes that kind stuff. (Apparently original designed as a joke about how that's easily the worst part of Wario Land 3, it's designed enough tweaks that most people seem to enjoy it?)

They had this on GDQ but haven't put up the run yet. It was delightful, especially as the read donations confessed to increasingly more depraved pizza topping crimes.

And of course the music is delightful.

Anybody played this yet? Why do we not have a thread for raving about this game?

Heads up, the creator said a bunch of racist/transphobic/misogynistic stuff on their discord from 2018 to 2020. The fans of this game seem to have split down the middle on whether to continue supporting the game and forgiving the guy or not.

That is something I was not aware of (or if I was struggled to keep from confusing with any other of the several dozen similar stories I hear every few weeks, sadly). That would certainly account, to some degree, for all the EWJ influence in the game, given TenNapel's history of similar comments.

It's like you can be that much of a fan of the John K kinda thing because you were like 8 years old when ren and stimpy was the big thing on nick, or you can be a fan because you think John K is the kinda guy you want to be as a dude, and this is certainly more like the latter

And you can also recognize that the guy who really got at the heart and soul of ren and stimpy was actually Bob Camp and make your peace that way. Relatedly, soundtrack still slaps.

I'll be honest about 60% of making this thread was entirely to justify an "is peppino a libertarian" joke in the tags
