Whipchords - The Castlevaniadome Thread

Very evil second match-up. Going to vote against my own nomination with "The Submerged City." There's just nothing like it anywhere else in the series, with the fun it's having with time signatures in particular. And there's even a slight edge for my own underdog-rooting tendencies, in that "Praying Hands" at least shows up at times in album arranges, fan games and other such remixes--the sheer unconventionality makes the CV4 composition a much rarer treat.

Bloody Tears drips onto the next round while Praying Hands are answered.
Round 7

@Kirin travels with some Wandering Ghosts from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Latin Mix) while @RT-55J is playing a real Boss Theme from Master of Darkness.

Round 8

Next is… two of mine. I try to make people aren’t facing their own picks against each other in the beginning but I don’t mind letting it happen for myself. We have Aquarius from Circle of the Moon against the American commercial for Castlevania II.

Wandering Ghosts shamble on and it's the age of Aquarius.
Round 1

Round 9

@Torzelbaum burns with a Heart of Fire from Aria of Sorrow and performing a Wood Carving Partita from Symphony of the Night (and sorry for Torzelbaum, I was trying not to have people have their own songs face off in the first round and I missed this.)

Round 10

@Vaeran is running like Clockwork from Vampire Survivors while @WildcatJF walks down a Ruined Castle Corridor from Aria of Sorrow covered by GaMetal.

Man, that Wandering Ghosts remix is fantastic.
So that track has a weird history - what I was actually trying to track down is a fan remix that was in my personal mp3 collection from… like probably a quarter century ago. But I did a bunch of searches and couldn’t tune up the exact mix… just several eerily similar ones that weren’t exactly it but were clearly riffing on the very same ideas, sometimes quite closely. Near as I can tell what happened was that the mix I have (by someone going by Kaijin at the time) got turned into a midi file and included with some distribution of RPGMaker as a background track, where a lot of kids imprinted on it and later went on to turn out their own remixes of the remix. This one was the closest match I could find, but there’s still some new bits in the back half that are also quite good.

Meanwhile for today’s match I’m going Clockwork Partita

Just for posterity, the source of this "Wandering Ghosts" arrangement is from the 1998 album MIDI POWER Pro 6: Akumajō Dracula X ~Gekka no Nocturne~, arranged by Eisaku Nambu. I don't really have exposure to whatever further takes on it exist, but the album was in my own rotation as a nascent series nerd.

"Heart of Fire" for this round. Yamane got on a streak in the handheld games where she'd include usually just one or two past series remixes, and I think they had the most impact in this and the preceding Harmony of Dissonance boss rush where two such tracks were combined into a medley. In this instance, reframing "Can't Wait Until Night" as the build-up to "Heart of Fire"'s climax really amplifies the drama in the Julius fight.

Heart of Fire runs like Clockwork
Round 11

@R.R. Bigman makes an Unseen Entry from Legacy of Darkness while @WildcatJF listens to Queen in the Dark Night. Let Us Entertain You in the absence of light is a trip!

Round 12

@Peklo enters into a Forest of Monsters from Super Castlevania IV as @Vaeran burns with a Heart of Fire from Harmony of Despair.

Queen in the Dark Forest

second matchup was especially tough, but I have to give it to that groovy bassline
