Alright, we are in for a great month for a curse! Get ready because we are going to play our beloved Castlevania tunes against each other. If you didn’t submit songs, it’s OK. Voting is open to ANYONE in talking time! Latecomers and first-timers welcome (especially since it is really helpful to break ties)

I also want to thank the people who contributed tracks!

@WildcatJF

@Torzelbaum

@Peklo

@RT-55J

@Vaeran

@Sarge

@Kirin

@Issun

@R.R. Bigman

Thanks so much guys. You are the ones who make it work it.

First the Prelims!

Prelims!

Round 1

We are starting off with one of many variations of the classic Bloody Tears! @Kirin has given us the Beatmania version. But while he’s dancing to the beat of his own mania, @Torzelbaum gets classy with Wood Carving Partita, a cover of the Symphony of the Night track by Vinheteiro!

Round 2

@RT-55J worships the Queen In the Dark Night, a cover using Sega Mega Drive and Genesis tech by Rusty! But speaking of… NOT RUSTY (smooth segueway, me!), we have Iron Blue Intention from Castlevania Bloodlines! Thanks @Sarge

"Queen in the Dark Night", for being one of the greatest stage 1 themes ever put out, and this instrumentation treatment doing it justice.

Somewhat tough call since I do have a lot of love for Naoto Shibata's Konami Battle albums, despite my baseline disinterest in guitar-driven metal arrangements of VGM. He and his crew just had a lot of expertise in taking the arrangements through interesting extrapolations and a very professional and nuanced soundscape.

Tears in the Night

(Had to vote for my own DDR, though I do appreciate the innovation of using twice as many pianos for one person.)

Round 3

The next songs are a couple of gems. @Issun cries Crystal Teardrops from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night while @WildcatJF is trapped in Megadriver’s Jail of Jewels from Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.

Round 4

More Bloody Tears are shed as @WildcatJF presents a cover by Tetsuya Kazuki. @R.R. Bigman is going to Trashard in the Cave and you can’t stop him. From Castlevania Chronicles.

"Crystal Teardrops". The bass and percussion really sell the track.

"Thrashard in the Cave". Sota Fujimori worked magic in transforming in what was already a stellar soundtrack to embody the then-contemporary trends of drum 'n bass electronica in video game music. One of the best reinterpretations heard in the series.

Crystal Teardrops and Bloody Tears drip down our faces for the win!

Round 5

It’s finally here. The original version of Bloody Tears from II from @Torzelbaum ! @Kirin has a Lost Painting from Smash Bros Ultimate he’d like to give you.

images

Round 6

@R.R. Bigman is trapped in The Submerged City from Super Castlevania IV. @Peklo ‘s favourite Devo track is Praying Hands. Or maybe it’s just this Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge track of the same name. Who knows.
