What Should I Play Next? Because I don't like making my own decisions.

I finally, FINALLY beat Slay the Spire after playing it for... Maybe half a year? But now I have a HUGE back catalog of games to play. What do you recommend to get out of the roguelike card game headspace?

Wonderful 101
Battletech
Darksiders
Goragoa
Tomb Raider (the more recent one just called Tomb Raider)
Try to Finish NES Open
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past replay

Octopus Prime

Mysterious Contraption
(He/Him)
I would play Darksiders before LttP, since playing them in the other order is kind of like getting your ice cream before your broccoli

But Tomb Raider may be the least like Slay the Spire of everything you mentioned, so it'd cleanse your head-space most quickly.

It took me forever to figure out the sound. It worked in the cut scenes but nowhere else. THEN after lots of stuff, I tried on my headphones. Even worse, no sound in the cutscenes either. Then I took it off and it worked fine. WTF, technology?!

OK, its not working again so... I dunno.

OK, here's my question: which of these games should I play next.

Doki Doki Literature Club (started but something came up)
Wonderful 101 (midway through)
NES Open (finally beat all the AI players and do tournament mode)
Age of Wonders III (never played one or two but I suspect that doesn't matter)
Kingdom: New Lands

Doki Doki Literature Club is brilliant and also very short. Like three hours tops. What've you got to lose?

Finished Doki Doki. Quite a ride. Not going to bother getting the other endings, its repetitive enough already (not a complaint, mostly, that's part of the point).

So what's next?

NES Open
Wonderful 101
Europa Universalis IV (Don't know anything about it but I got it from a guy who got it in a bundle and had a copy. I assume its either a world building or strategy game?)
Bioshock Infinite
Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is quite good, but also a game that I can't imaging sitting down to beat or play for a long stretch of time, it's best suited for multiple short sessions.

Also this would be good timing because a new patch just came out. There's a lot of activity on boards and stuff as people who haven't played the game for a while are coming back to check out the changes and new content.

MetManMas

Me and My Bestie
(He, him)
My vote goes to BioShock Infinite, if only 'cuz somebody else playing the game too might get me to get back to it.

Europa Universalis IV - I’m not sure what it is, either, but we can learn **together**.

i say wonderful 101 because i love wonderful 101. Stardew i agree with violent, it's a great game, but i'd play it more like i would a mobile game: when i have some time I'll pop in and do some stuff. Europa, like every other paradox game, is incredibly dense, but even when you start off it's fun and got enough direction that you can float while you learn.

Johnny, knowing your tastes, I would be shocked if you didn't bounce off EU4 so hard that you collided with an orbiting satellite.

Feel free to prove me wrong, though!

Also, hard disagree on the folks saying that Stardew lends itself to casual engagement-- I played that game obsessively while I was playing it, for hours at a time.

Went with Stardew. I like everything except the controls. I wish I could get my X-Box controller to work with it, I hate having to use the mouse and keyboard.

After I finish Horizon Zero Dawn, should I play:

God of War Dad of Boy
Paper Mario: Origami King
Nier Automata
Alliance Alive
The Last Guardian
Life is Strange 2
Tacoma
Hatoful Boyfriend
Hollow Knight

...let's cut the list there for now

IMO NieR: Automata is the best game on that list. The combat is kinetic and fun, the world is fully realized, the story is basically if all those PS1 JRPGs were actually as deep as they thought they were, and the music is, well, it's a contender for best game soundtrack of the century.

Although Hollow Knight and Tacoma are both excellent as well. 2017 really was a banner year.

It took me a while to adapt to the controls but once I did I was quite happy with them, especially once I started having a lot of items to go through. Being able to type a number to switch through the first row of your inventory is awesome.

Hatoful Boyfriend
It's the only one on your list I've played. It's completely baffling and I adore it. Pretty quick per single playthrough too.
