Uh, is the name of this thread supposed to have that typo?

On TT 2.0 I taught Brickroad something he didn't know about Final Fantasy 4 while he was doing his LP of it.

Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1 version):
  • Won the "Oops! All Monks" special random battle.
  • I once used a different gimmick for winning the final battle against Gafgarion.

Collecting every single unique item in Symphony of the Night
I have also accomplished this (and without any name recognition among the castle inhabitants).

I think I'm most proud of playing Touhou. Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, Perfect Cherry Blossom, and Imperishable Night especially. I don't consider myself a "Lunatic difficulty" level player, but in an instance where I play a new entry and can beat Hard 1cc in a couple tries I don't get surprised. Here's a video of me beating the "Extra" stage on EOSD with no deaths and no "miss" (meaning you can't get hit and also against boss cards you can't use bombs or timeout). So it is basically perfect except I think one survival bomb. I have pretty excellent Extra clears for PCB and Imperishable Night. On Lunatic, I have a few sloppy 1ccs for Imperishable Night, and a few 2ccs for EOSD and PCB.

F-Zero GX: full completion, including all staff ghosts.

Beating all the built in challenges for Mirror's Edge 1+2. It's not super difficult, but it is very satisfying (especially ME1).

Perfect Dark: I'm not sure how proud I am of simply 100%'ing the game (e.g., beating Perfect Agent, unlocking all cheats, all simulator challenges, etc) but I can bang it out very easily. I've done it (not easily, mind you) using keyboard-only controls on an emulator where I had to map the analog stick to one set of arrow keys and I mapped "partially titled" analog stick to another set of arrow keys.

Metal Slug 3: 3cc

Doom 1/2: just beating random individual levels on Nightmare difficulty from a pistol start. I challenged myself to beat all of John Romero's levels this way, but "Tenements" (this level) was too hard. There's two spots early in the level where you have to get through a GAGGLE of spectres (my most hated enemy...grrr!). His other levels are pretty good for this challenge from what I remember, although I doubt I even attempted the late game levels. My favorite memory from Nightmare/pistol start might be map21: Passage to Exile (this level) from the wad D2TWID.

Dark Souls: they way I challenge myself with these games is that I replay them with full enemy clears, getting all the stupid item pickups (i.e., including the dangerous platforming ones), minimizing repeat trips for each bonfire, no cheesy tactics, limiting estus, and restricting weapon upgrades. On the last point I prefer the combat in Dark Souls where I don't let myself grow in power any more than needed to keep pace against standard enemies. Each character also has some kind of quirky role playing angle too, which limits their shields, equipment and allowed tactics. In Dark Souls 1 I've gotten a 7 death run with these restrictions and in Dark Souls 2 I've gotten a 30 death run. I'm proud that all my deaths against Lud and Zallen were in my first playthrough and now I have a 3 time "win streak" going of consecutive playthroughs where I defeat them (solo) on my first try.

I did the same thing! At least, I think I did, when I mentioned it to him, he seemed to have no idea what I was talking about, so I'm going to put it in the "yes" column.

Hm, since I tend to play games less for accomplishment nowadays I'll have to pull from my memories:

Goldeneye 007 - I earned the Invincibility cheat the legit way after weeks of practice.
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow - I've 100%ed this game multiple times at this point, but I have also gotten all soul and item drops because I LOVE Soma's combat controls lol

I'll add on to this as I think of others.

I thought of some more:

Super Mario Kart (SNES): I feel a lot of us who grew up with this may have beaten all the tracks and circuits without realizing how difficult it is. If you try to play this now after playing all the 3D ones the control difficulty is unreal. Every time I revisit Super Mario Kart I feel I would have to play for a week to get back to where I was as a kid, and have never gotten close.

Adventures of Lolo series (NES) (3 American games, 2 Japanese): beating all of these feels like an incredible accomplishment. Obviously I had to look up solutions for some individual levels in Lolo 2 and 3, but I challenged myself to try not to as much as possible. If someone can beat, say, the Japanese Lolo 2 without a guide I would eat my hat. You think you are good at puzzle games until you play these games.

The Witness. The game is designed to make you feel very proud for solving the puzzles. Again, I looked up a couple things.

I can't think of any games I was overjoyed to have accomplished something except for one:

Pokemon Puzzle League: Beating Mewtwo as a 10 year old is a wild thing. First of all I had thought beating Gary at the end was the final challenge of the game -- Bruno was hard enough, you're telling me I gotta beat MEWTWO now? It felt like I was up against an advanced AI from 12 years in the future that just instantaneously made 16x chains. But I kept at it till it felt like my fingers were gonna fall off and by some miracle pulled it off. I was over the moon. Some of those matches could go on for 10+ minutes.

I'm not exactly a Pro Gamer (tm) but I've done a few cool things:

-I've managed a 1cc of Castlevania Chronicles, and the PSP remake of Rondo of Blood with both Richter and Maria , which considering all the other platformers in the series took me multiple continues is pretty rad
-100% clear of Kingdom Hearts II on Proud Mode, and a completed playthrough of Critical Mode
-100% completion of Eternal Sonata on the original Xbox 360 release
-I've done all the Cie'th Stone missions in FFXIII, found all the Fragments in FFXIII-2, and completed all the sidequests in Lightning Returns

That's all I can think of right now

  • Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos (NES) - Cleared on a live stream. Still need to do the same with the original (and maybe the Japanese version of 3).
  • Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (PC) - All achievements and boss medals. This game's so good that 100-percenting it was a breeze.
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GCN) - Fully complete Nintendo Gallery. Yes, even the Knuckle figurine where you have to hook up your GBA and do Tingle Tuner quests.
  • Jet Grind Radio (DC) - All stages Jet-ranked, all characters unlocked. This is definitely the one I'm most proud of.

Despite playing games for most of my life, I'm not very proud of much of it. That said...

Beating Shinobi PS2 on the highest difficulty.

Earning the Vyse The Legend title in Skies of Arcadia Legends.

Getting all the Trophies in all the Soulsborne games that I have played.

Completing the bad American version of Castlevania 3 legit.

  • Bloodborne: platinum trophy, including Orphan of Kos solo on NG and NG+
  • Dark Souls, including a solo victory against O&S
  • Sekiro: the sword saint, yall
  • LoZ Link Between Worlds, Low% run (no heart containers, weakest sword and weakest armor, no shield, no items purchased, only rented items needed for the current dungeon) (this is secretly the hardest thing I've ever done)
  • Speedrun of FFV on GBA in just over 4 hours
  • Platinum 1 in Starcraft 2 1v1
  • Platinum in League of Legends ranked solo queue
  • Cleared the Black Temple in WoW TBC when it was current content
The last three maybe aren't as impressive but pretty cool.

Let's see:

  • All robot masters defeated, buster-only, in less than 60 minutes in Mega Man Legacy Collection
  • Several deathless runs of Mega Man 2
  • Cleared Affliction Warlock "Mage Tower" artifact challenge in WoW Legion
  • Getting the Ivory Cloud Serpent and Rajani Warserpent mounts in WoW Battle for Azeroth in the same day
  • All 96 levels of Super Mario World cleared back when the game was new. This may not seem like a big deal, but for an 11-yo it totally was.

That's all I can think of for now.

Holy hell can I relate to that. I was a bit younger, and I remember being a minor nuisance to a much older school student on my schoolbus by always asking for help. This was just the regular game too. By the time I got to the special world I had the Mario Mania player's guide, although you are pretty much on your own for those levels no matter what aids you can find.

I've only beaten the first US release, but it definitely made me think pretty darn hard for some of those later puzzles. And sometimes it's not just figuring out what you have to do - execution plays a huge role in a lot of levels as well. I figure I'll hit up the others some day! (And seriously, I wish I could stumble onto a cheap copy of Lolo 3.)

Ooo, I hadn't considered raiding accomplishments. I'm sure there are a bunch, since I was in a progression raiding guild, but it's hard to remember specific ones. I was always proud of us when we'd come up with a boss kill that didn't use conventional wisdom/methods (often times boss strats calcify as how the first guilds get their kills, even though those strats aren't necessarily optimal), especially when I was raid leader, and I loved cheesing a fight on my DK tank by doing things that weren't intended to be possible (ex: solo-tanking a current raid boss that's supposed to require an off-tank). I also had a few fights where I played a key role (I got very good at the Firelands ring-flying). Probably my proudest though was when we killed XT in Ulduar on the first night the raid went live. My guild was a 25-man guild, but that night we were short, so we ended up running a 10-man, and it was just a perfect tight group of our best players that learned a new boss and killed it before anything much had been written about it on the internet (I hate reading about raid fights on the internet; it really killed my enjoyment of raiding when everyone knows what's coming). It was a real rush.

ETA: Oh, oh, and the couple of times where our combat log uploads put me in the top brackets for world-wide stats on a boss was always a proud moment.

Yep. That level with the berries you needed to extend the timer was a pain.

Nice job on Yellow Devil. I never did do that growing up, always abusing the pause trick. It's only in recent years I decided to try it legit.

Also, great job on Sly 2 and 3. I'm pretty sure I 100%-ed them, too, and Sly 2 is my favorite of the series. We need another Sly game!

Beat the nonsense super super version of the Firebringer in SaGa:SGA
Beat That One Optional Boss in Trails to Azure (Arianrhod) my first try, despite forgetting to switch over to my anti-boss setup
A bunch of solo single class runs of FFV
Buster only no upgrade runs of some MMXes
Soloed the multiplayer content in MH3U/4U
Never summoned to beat a Soulsborne boss, beat O&S (Among others) my first try, beat Yhorm without using the Stormruler

Solo, single-class clear of Final Fantasy Tactics as the dummied Priest (same as the generic Priest, except it can equip anything and has 0 innate evade instead of 5).

Low-level and solo clears of The 7th Saga.

All the expert challenges in Monster Train prior to the patch. (I should get back on the new ones.)

S-rank all bosses in Valdis Story.

The literal worst DCSS player ever to win multiple allrune runs.

I used to replay Mega Man X-X3 so often that I seldom died.
Just beating Sigma in X3 is an accomplishment all by itself. I don't think I've ever done it without save states.
Super Mario Kart (SNES): I feel a lot of us who grew up with this may have beaten all the tracks and circuits without realizing how difficult it is. Yeah, I used to play on 150cc, but these days I find it very difficult even at 100cc. It's still a reasonably fun game to play, but way less forgiving of mistakes than the modern ones are.
Completing the bad American version of Castlevania 3 legit.
I did that once, but it was out of pure spite, so I didn't put it on my list.
MM1: Beat the Yellow Devil without the Elec Beam trick.
I did that too! Exactly one time in my life. Should have put it on the list, I was so proud.

I forgot to mention that I completed the monster arena in Final Fantasy X, although that was more a question of time invested than of skill.

Gotten all the emblems in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle on the Gamecube back in the day. That last level...! All for crappy Green Hill Zone.

Honestly if by the last level you mean Cannon's Core, I actually think these missions were as hard, maybe harder:

- Mission Street 100 rings, hard mode
- Either of the highway chases' mission 4 (don't hit the walls) oh my god
- Security Hall time attack
- Radical Highway time attack
- Eternal Engine

I will say that Cannon's Core 100 rings was kinda nasty as well for similar reasons to Mission Street and Eternal Engine, go figure

Kazin

did i do all of that?
(he/him)
Another one is I did everything you can possibly do in Gravity Rush on Vita - I platinum-ed it, including the DLC. Weirdly, I haven't played much of the sequel.

Recently I beat all the dungeons in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX, which I never thought I'd do, which unlocks all the menu icons when you're loading your save. Took me 100 hours to do it and I had a blast. I was going to get all the Pokemon, too, and came somewhat close, but when I realized I'd have to grind Mystery Houses for Riolu, I moved on to different games.

Here are a few more of mine (some of which are mostly just tests of patience):
  • Getting every enemy drop in Dragon Warrior 3.
  • Getting a doll of every character in Chrono Trigger
  • Getting all of the endings in Chrono Trigger
  • Finishing the NES port of Might and Magic 1
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (PC) - All achievements and boss medals.
I have the achievements but not the boss medals. I suppose I could use my end game save in new game+ to melt the bosses down into those medals but the Valac fight melts any motivation I have for doing that.
