We're all just here for the deep Urbz lore - Talking about The Sims!

So starting this thread for two reasons: First and foremost, The Sims™ Legacy Collection released like a month ago, and I haven't heard anyone talk about it. Is it any good? Worth pursuing for classic Sims vibes? I'm curious!

And secondly: Hey, I like The Sims. When it was first released 25 years ago, it was probably one of my most played games. And, more importantly, it was one of the most played games in my peer group. I think a significant factor in this was we were all just about old enough to acknowledge how we would "live on our own", but could not afford a cool disco ball to hang in the kitchen. The Sims let us live out our fantasies! And occasionally drown people in a poorly constructed moat! Which may have also been one of our fantasies! Anywho, I don't remember "playing to win" The Sims like I completed scenarios in SimCity 2000 or alike, but I genuinely had fun just futzing around in the simmish world.

... And I probably haven't touched the franchise in at least a decade.

So The Sims: Won't You?

Sims and Sims 2 are very different beasts from Sims 3 which is a very different beast from Sims 4...

I guess I find myself wondering... Is the Sims completely eclipsed by Sims2?

I loved The Sims and Sims 2 had an amount of expansion packs I pirated that I don't care to admit to. Then 3 came out and my computer couldn't run it. I tried 4 later but there were so many different mechanics I felt kinda lost. But it's a very memorable moment/time capsule of my college life honestly.
