Was Mace Windu’s strength as a Jedi actually stronger than the Emperor’s? Or was that just an act to get Anikin to turn.

Im assuming he isn’t, but the gap isn’t that wide. Mace seems like one of the most powerful of the Jedi (the Gennedy Clone Wars isn’t canon anymore, but it’s strong evidence), but in the rare instance that Palpatine got physical nothing could touch him; and he managed to beat Yoda who is the top shelf for the Jedi

Maybe it's like... he's a guy with a pistol. Even if you have a shotgun, you need to watch out for the pistol guy, you don't want to get surprised by him. And if you can flip an enemy into an ally while taking care of the danger, all the better.

And while Palpatine was able turn his facial disfigurement into a political argument against the jedi, I have to assume that wasn't his original plan

I’unno; traditionally the aftereffects of being struck by lighting don’t make you look elderly.

Usually it’s more “crispy” or “skeletoned”.

Aging Hipster Dragon Dad
Weren't there like three other Jedi masters with Mace at the start of that fight that Palpatine slaughtered? It's seems more like Mace just got lucky before Anakin got involved.

I saw a semi official explanation based on the novelization and it pretty much summed up everything I hate about the expanded universe lore.
