That definitely deserves a great big deadpan "Wut."

I mean, it's the kind of thing obviously so far divorced from its source material that it's going to depend entirely on whether the writing is any good on its own. The question of whether it's a "good adaptation" doesn't even come into it.

Awkwafina and Karen Gillen to star in Shelly, about a hitwoman who befriends her next target: the mean girl who bullied her in high school. I hadn't seen her in much until the most recent Jumanji but she was by far the best part of it and her Danny Devito impression was more fun than the Rock's.

Found out the other day that the Nimona movie apparently got cancelled, as Disney has shut down the recently-acquired Blue Sky Studios. It's been in development hell for ages, but it was on track to be completed by October. Things are what they are but it's really not a good look for Disney to cancel the one unambiguously queer movie they might have accidentally put their name on.
Noooo that was the best comic.

They are making - have already finished filming - a prequel to Orphan starring Isabelle Fuhrman as the orphan again. Directed by the guy who made the excellently titled Brahms: The Boy II. Will they be deploying some manner of technology to make Isabelle Fuhrman look like a child? I don't know, Either way: I am anticipating this.

Have you never seen Orphan? Recommend.

Agreed. A sequel I feel would have to be quite different. John Boyega's character obviously can't be a child so I'm curious if it takes it in a very different direction. It would kind of be a bummer if was "still kind of a shit" since the last movie but I having him as societally disenfranchised and rightfully angry seems like a good place to move him in.

I finally watched Attack the Block just a couple months ago. It was good! It is pretty self-contained, but I'm down for a further exploration in some other direction maybe...
