Top 50 Time Travelers - Hour Gang

The bit near the ending that has nothing to do with humans or class is what always got me. Moving forward slowly watching what I imagined as giant horseshoe crabs move across the landscape and then slowly watching (from his perspective) the sun die out.

Yeah, I only did one vote per source and Lucca was my Chrono Trigger rep. On the one hand, yeah, I'm a sucker for cute mechanic girls (Skuld was one of my first anime faves waaaay back in the day), but it's not just that - her inventions are really the crux of the whole adventure getting started, plus as mentioned key to adding other party members like Robo. None of this adventure gets off the ground without the unassuming best friend character who just happens to be a whiz with machines. And of course, she has her own moment of time-travel specific character growth in the vignette with her mom.

I did also vote for Mr Time Traveler himself, though near the bottom of my list. He's not a very exciting character, but Wells' popularity definitely paved the way for most time travel stories to come, so ya gotta pay respects.

Not a super interesting character in himself but I had to give props

I also had to pay respects to the Time Machinist - he was #14 on my list.

Fry's ended up in so many time travel situations its exceptional. He's hit pretty much all the major cliches.

Yes, here are the ones that I'm aware of but I think there are others:
  • Rip Van Winkle-ing into the 31st Century via technology*.
  • A weird outer space anomaly causing him (and others) to go back in time where he is forced to come up with his ... different solution to the Grandfather Paradox.
  • Uncontrollably leaping ahead in time because his far future family member wanted to win a bet on a basketball game.
  • Going back in time and changing the past so that he was the one who caused himself to get frozen.
  • Going forwards in time (with others) and having to roll over the temporal odometer on the universe.
  • Getting stuck in a time loop and then living out his life with Leela while (almost) absolutely everyone and everything else is frozen in time.

(I had Fry at #6 on my list.)

Oh, I missed that one and the previous one. I don't know why I remembered George Bailey immediately but completely passed by Scrooge.

I've only seen Evil Dead once and none of the other films in the franchise so...

Nice! I had him at #11. Only Evil Dead I've ever seen was Army of Darkness back when I was a teen but it left an impression on me.

I had Ash on my list... Bruce just pulls off the ridiculous premise in a way I'm not sure anyone else could, just, the most perfect amount of cheese.

Also @Johnny Unusual apparently Ash time-traveled so much he turned into Scrooge in his second video.

If I ever get sent back from the future to kill a man (crosses his fingers), rest assured that my first move will also be to steal Bill Paxton's pants.

Had both Phil and Ahnold hanging out in the lower half of my list. They're not my fave characters ever, but they're both classics of different time-travel forms for good reason.

I had Phil at # 12 and the T-800 at 8 and, as you can see, Marty at 2.

It's fitting that these two would show up next to each other. Terminator and BttF are really two of the biggest modern influences on how your average schmuck (us) views and thinks about time travel as a concept.

Excited for the top 5!

Oh interesting, I initially voted for them as a pair then split it up and only voted for Doc. I'm curious if Doc will still show up now.
