I originally had Marty & Doc Brown as a pair on my list at #5, but Johnny suggested I split 'em since I guess that's what most folks were doing there and I went with Doc. The time machine(s) are his baby after all, and his character arc is extremely time-travel, what with the neat time-loop death prevention and eventually finding his happy place in the past.

Bill & Ted on the other hand really are inseparable. I had 'em at #4, but it's honestly been ages - I really want to re-watch the first two movies at some point and get around to seeing the third.

I loved this topic, and I really enjoyed this list, but ya'll really fucked up by leaving my #1 off of it, IMO, and I'm also surprised not to see my #2. Oh, and colour me super surprised that TT of all places went with the boring Tom Cruise character in Edge of Tomorrow when there was a cool badass soldier lady right there (see also: Sylvie in Loki). I was so sure that she was going to show up herself later or I'd have called it out at the time. Anyway, my list, misses in bold:

1. Missile (Ghost Trick) - My #1 with a bullet. However, explaining why would mean major spoilers for Ghost Trick, and I think everyone should experience that narrative beat for themselves? Honesty, I feel a little guilty even voting for him at all, given that, but I can't not vote for the goodest boy who ever was, is, or will be.
2. Viki (Suikoden) - I love the little bits of connective tissue between Suikoden games, but my favourite is definitely this enigma of a mage who falls out of holes in space-time.
3. Professor Berlinghoff Rasmussen (ST:TNG) - This is that guy who shows up on the Enterprise claiming to be from the future, but is actually a con man from the past who stole a time machine. I just love the way he finds everything so endlessly cute and charming and uses that to deflect suspicion. A minor role that really stuck with me due to the performance.

6. Philip J. Fry (Futurama)
7. Fujiwara no Sai (Hikaru no Go) - Yes, I know this is a reach, but no one else is going to vote for him anyway, so it's fine. He definitely trades on the tropes of a displaced time-traveler, though, as a ghost of the past who finds himself in the modern day and just really wants to play Go.

21. Satoru Fujinuma (Erased) - Being gifted with foreknowledge but stuck in the body of a child with limited capacity to act on it makes for a fun tension.
22. Max Walker (Timecop) - More time travel problems in fiction should be solved by a gun and being really good at doing the splits.
23. Sergeant Rita Vrataski (Edge of Tomorrow) - I've never read the original book this is based on (which recently got an anime adaptation, IIRC), but the character that Emily Blunt plays in the film as a kind of cool time loop mentor is very memorable.
24. Grimdark Long-Haired Harry Kim (ST:Voyager - Timeless) - No, Harry Kim isn't about time travel, although it does happen at him more than once, but this version of him, with his grey highlights and permanent scowl and need of a haircut, is all about time travel, and is delightfully hammy in all the right ways.
25. Mark Twain (ST:TNG) - I'm mostly including this vote because it makes me laugh that Star Trek turned Mark Twain into a time traveler, and also because it makes me feel clever to be able to include the writer of one of English lit's seminal works of time travel fiction on a list of time travelers.

Johnny, this was a super fun list. I loved the topic, enjoyed all the write ups, and thought the multi-thread conciet was a great way to express the theme. I kept scrolling down on the entry posts to be like "these responses don't make sense, its like they're from a long time ago": a mistake I never failed to make.

2 Lucius - Thermae Romae - Sad Lucius didn't show up. His time travel exertions had the most impact Caesar gets to sit on a toilet.

3 Severian - Book of the New Sun - And like all good time travelers, he sleeps with his own grandma.

4 The Chosen Undead - Dark Souls - Mostly because it means the Sif fight is even sadder.

14 Mario and Luigi - M&L Partners in Time - Props to this one. M & L get to do the same time travel adventure twice, once as babies, and once as adults, taking care of themselves as babies, and taking care of themselves as adults. Great stuff.

16 Kermit the Frog, Reporter - Sesame Street News Flash - Now that's some dedication to the fourth estate.

17 Sonics the Hedgehog - Sonic Generations - Another frequent time-traveler. I picked Generations because classic Sonic is cute as the dickens.

18 Dragon Quest V Hero - Dragon Quest V - I like it because you forget about it until it becomes relevant.

19 Donnie Darko - Donnie Darko

20 The Hatchling - Outer Wilds - All this guy does is time travel!

21 Captain Picard - The Next Generation - There's so much time travel in Star Trek I had to give it some representation. I went for Picard entirely on the strength of "All Good Things..." which isn't just a great time travel story but also wonderful finale for TNG.

22 Lola - Run, Lola, Run - Probably not technically time travel, but on the other hand Lola does seem to remember stuff from previous loops...

The two things that really bug me with Quantum Leap are that later in the show, they decided to retcon away from body hopping to actually physically swapping places. Bad for conservation of mass, bad for the mirror thing making no sense, and a lot of episodes kinda just don't work that way. And then they went real overt with the religious angle at a certain point, adding in an evil version of Sam and Al who were going around time kicking people in the shins to make the future worse in the name of Satan.
