Tokusatsu and Sentai : not just ranging power

We've had a thunderdome about Tokusatsu but we didn't have a thread about it, so I made one.

I recently stumbled across this pitch video for the "draft" version of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Dinorangers.

It is certainly ... something.

Neat. Anyway I guess here's where I, once again, encourage people to actually watch some tokusatsu shows already. It's so weird to me how people will totally indiscriminately watch absolutely anything as long as it comes from Japan and is anime, and play damn near any video game, but draw this big ol' line in the sand about live action stuff... and it's weirder still that people are totally cool watching Power Rangers, but not the various shows that get hacked to pieces and reconstituted as Power Rangers.

I maintain the real best starting points are either Kamen Rider W or Kamen Rider OOO since those are just genuinely good shows and pretty representative, but if you're like allergic to looking up fansubs, Shout Factory has officially localized a really random selection of mostly pretty darn old stuff, and also a few years ago Toei just officially dumped subbed copies of the first two episodes of... a truckload of things, including one of those shows I'm shoving at people. Personally I still prefer the fansubs for that one though, if only because the subbers properly add hype by adding color and effects to the subs during transformation sequences and attack call-outs and such. Also doing the karaoke thing on theme songs of course.
