I genuinely love the intimation that the reason Captain Marvel didn't show up for all the movies is because she had bigger fish to fry. I like the idea that there's a threshold of power past which you're useless for all but the most dire circumstances, because for any problem you could fix there are a million worse problems that also need fixing.
I actually kinda hate it! If that other shit is so important, why aren't we privy to seeing any of it?
They will get there, but I actually dread the story implications of this because power escalation is a thing that can wreck the context of your storytelling universe if you're not careful. You can have the Ultimates fight The Living Tribunal and Peter Parker punching Rhino and struggling to pay rent, but you have to keep your streams separate.
Yeah, basically, with Cosmic Marvel and its heavy-hitters it's implied they really don't get involved with "local" affairs that would affect only a tiny percentage of the planet's population--especially not when their power is better spent, say, blowing up a comet that would annihilate a whole world. IRL, we have never seen Carol deal with any of her adventures between 1995 and 2018 because her MCU incarnation wasn't even created until the latter; diagetically, it's because she was busy escorting and protecting a ship of interstellar refugees wanted by a galactic empire, and because she had had to confront Thanos at least often enough for both of them to acknowledge each other as a threat. The vast majority of conflicts in MCU films up until then were minuscule, regional even within Earth, or personal rivalries. Those that weren't, well, they happened in isolation, and only became world- or reality-spanning within a very short timeframe and in contexts far removed from Carol as a whole --the sole exception being the first Guardians movie.
I expect the Marvels film to deal with this sort of thing, give us a glimpse into the Cosmic day-to-day and show us the kind of thing that typically prevent Carol from lingering in one place for long.
The Eternals are another story, though. It's a group of them who are hinted at being magnitudes more powerful than the average MCU protag, and they claim to be actively observing Earth's development. Retconning their non-involvement is gonna take some doing.

Episode 1 of Loki is up. And boy howdy that was good. Can’t wait for more. The first episode is basically about laundering Avengers 1 Loki into a likable chap in order to fight off a more villainous variant of Loki. I’m very looking forward to where this goes next. Also the TVA looks fantastic.

I find it positively delightful that Loki knows how to sign his name with a pen and paper, and understands the significance of it, like a lowly Terran mortal would. I wonder what his signature looks like.
I do wonder though--if the Avengers' Time Heist was in fact preordained, doesn't that mean they were meant to lose the Tesseract, so Tony and Cap would be forced to travel back to the 70s? Was Loki supposed to just stare at the Tesseract and let the 2012 Avengers pick it up again, so the 2023 ones still believed they lost their chance?
I did appreciate that a) the Infinity Stones don't work outside their native reality, like in the comics, and b) the majority of confiscated Stones were Reality and Time. With a couple Space, one or two Power, and a single giant Soul.
The "50s future" aesthetic was a great design choice. I'm putting down ten bux that we'll hear the Jetsons scooter sound in the background at some point.

My theory is that it WAS in fact meant to happen, that Loki being arrested by the TVA is supposed to happen, so he can help them. Whether every TVA employee or just Mobius is in on it is up in the air, but it's the only way I can square 'the Avengers were supposed to muck with the timeline' with 'but Loki shouldn't have done what Loki would do'.
Anyway, I really liked this! Definitely more fan-servicey than FatWS and even WandaVision, but I can forgive it because Hiddleston's Loki is just fun to watch.
Also, a nagging part of me complained that "2012 Loki" got the character development of the "original" transplanted onto him by watching a video, but that part was quickly silenced when I realized that, well, no, he didn't, but he understood, and got to a different place of his own. A place where he understood the meaning and significance of all those other milestones, and realized not just what he would have lost but what what he could have become.
It was heavily compressed, and (judging from just one episode, not knowing what the writers actually intend to do with him) maybe it could have been the driving theme of the series, but I still like what they did with it and I'm looking forward to what they have planned if this was their opening move.

What’s got my noodle twisting is that Officer Owen Wilson says that the big villain is a worse alternate Loki, which does fit with the fact that this show looks to be leaning on Agent of Asgard.
But it also pretty strongly implied Mephisto is the villain.

Loved this! I don't have a ton to say because this was a lot of setup and the actual plot hasn't really begun yet, but what we got was still weird and fantastic. The aesthetics and atmosphere are great, and Hiddleston's bringing his A game. Very excited to see where this goes.

I also loved Owen Wilson sneaking in a quick “AKA: Earth” when Loki mentions wanting to rule Midgard

Hiddleston and Owen Wilson are a great pair. Really enjoyed the episode, did a lot of good character stuff and set up a fun story.
Caught up with this, and that sure felt like an all-setup Ep1, but it was pretty setup and it's fun to just hang out with Hiddles-Loki again. It did feel a *little* contrived how they gave him super-compressed character development by watching his own future but I'm inclined to let it slide on account of how likeable-Loki is more fun than the one from where the plot forced them to pick him up from the timeline, and I wouldn't be surprised if we're still left with some important nuances relating to exactly how this particular Loki develops.
