It's always an exciting time to be an MCU fan... except possibly right now, as everything's on hold thanks to the COVID-19 summer crossover event that everyone's already sick of. But here's what we have to look forward to, along with their alleged release dates:

MOVIES
  • Black Widow (November 6, 2020)
  • The Eternals (February 12, 2021)
  • Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (May 7, 2021)
  • Spider-Man: Stay at Home (December 17, 2021)
  • Thor: Love and Thunder (February 11, 2022)
  • Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (March 25, 2022)
  • Black Panther II (May 6, 2022)
  • Captain Marvel II (July 8, 2022)
SERIES
  • The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (late 2020)
  • WandaVision (December 2020)
  • Loki (early 2021)
  • What If...? (mid 2021)
  • Hawkeye (2022)
  • Ms. Marvel (2022)
  • Moon Knight (2022)
  • She-Hulk (2022)

I have to wait a whole year and a half to see if my predictions about Dr. Strange 2 are valid?

Man...
That’s rude!

The rumor is Spider-Man Homesick. Which… also might be about covid.

If there had to be a year long break from Marvel movies, this is probably the best time for it. We got Endgame & a Spider-Man, and the new storyline hasn’t started up yet.

Yeah, in terms of places to take a pause, it could have been worse. If COVID-19 had struck before Endgame's release I'd be losing my goddamn mind right now.

Interestingly*, even with a half-year delay, if Black Widow comes out November 6 as is the current plan, it still won't be the longest gap between movies since the start of the MCU, by a long shot:

Spider-Man: Far From Home (July 2, 2019) - Black Widow (November 6, 2020) - 493 days

That honor goes to...

The Incredible Hulk (June 13, 2008) - Iron Man 2 (May 7, 2010) - 693 days

* this is not actually interesting

Kazin

did i do all of that?
(he/him)
That actually IS interesting. It feels like a long time since Far From Home...

I mean, by the 10s, Marvel movies were coming out 2 to 3 times a year so a bigger gap on top of the intentional gap does make it feel a lot longer. Man, I miss seeing movies in a theater. I think they are open over here (we are only in Yellow Alert, thank the One Above All), but even if there were new movies, no thanks.

Yeah, the one I walk by every day is open, currently showing a Russel Crowe Movie about Driving Cars and also a Spongebob movie.

if they’re showing Old Movies, they aren’t advertising it on the marquee, they’re expecting Russel Crowe to really bring in the crowds.

Honestly, at this point I kinda feel like the bigger the gap the better. There needed to be a break so that the anticipation could be higher for the post-Endgame point in the Cinematic Universe

My secret hope is that a Great Lakes Avengers movie is made, Grasshopper is in it, and he’s played by a different person in every scene.

Is The New Mutants an MCU property? That one's coming out... this week, I think.

The wait for the next Spider-Man is killing me. I need to know the ramifications of that ending (What the actual, nacho-cheese-flavored fuck do you think you're doing doxxing a minor, JJJ?).

Also looking forward to Sam & Bucky: Tsundere Buddy Cops, Loki (just because I'm not in lust with the character/actor doesn't mean he's not a fave), and Ms. Marvel.

Still waiting on my Squirrel Girl movie.

I'm willing to wait on a SG movie because you need time to make sure it's done *right*.

She was going to be in that New Warriors show that never happened because they couldn't find a channel to put it on

It'll be a big hit with the fanboys when The Eternals ends on a post-credits scene of Death herself bringing Thanos back, then we build anticipation for three or four movies, and then the Squirrel Girl movie opens with her army of squirrels eating him into dust again and he never ever comes back.

I think What If...? might be the thing on that list I care the most about. Don't get me wrong, they all seem like they'll be perfectly entertaining, but the very concept of What if...? is fun enough that I actually want to see what they do with it. (Do we know anything at all about it?)

Also, we all know that I, Vaeran, love Moon Knight so I'm really excited for that series.

Trust me, you ain’t alone in either of those opinions.

I think they mentioned that What If is going to be based on the movies, rather than the comics which, Y’know, I get.

But it means it won’t be adapting some of the better What If comics, not directly at least.

One is going to be what if Peggy Carter got the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve. That’s all I know, but it’s a promising start.

I believe I also saw a zombie Cap in the teaser for What If...? so there may be some sort of Marvel Zombies adaptation, which would be cool.

And I'm super excited for Moon Kn...

oh

wait

it looks like I already posted about that

sorry, I guess I got confused

I'll... I'll just show myself out

(Actually, call me if they deliver that good Kirby shit with The Eternals)

Sheds a single tear thinking about how we will never see a shot-for-shot (shot-for-panel?) adaptation of . . .

Woud this work? Actually I am too technologically illiterate to understand how it would work, but maybe you do. Maybe it was explained on the next page.

e: actually I guess the post just displays strangely on my ipad; I could see what he was saying when I replied to see the... code and just replicated the sample image width
