Two incredible 80 year olds passed away yesterday. Some of my friends were like, "What if the Third was..." and I was like we are not that lucky. Sure stinks being right. RIP bro
I had got to meet him once, briefly, in a convention setting. He was a fantastic human being. For all that the cartoon role that he's most known for began as essentially a half-hour commercial designed to sell toys, he seemed to appreciate the value his work had for generations of kids, many of whom are now grown to adulthood and see no reason to give up this particular artifact from their childhood.
The grim reaper has cut a bloody swathe through the good people of the world this week, but given how I grew up and have lived, this one for me struck the closest to home.
