I beat this mode. You really, really need to have every step of the game memorized to do this without going mad. I made a special mental note to put the Magnum in the Cabin box to pick up after the underground section, and keeping the crank with me just so wouldn’t forget it exists. That’s another similarity to RE7!

Even with all the running around, I still clocked in under five hours, earning me Barry’s gun! Or a facsimile of Barry gun, most likely. Can I use this or the (if I get it) rocket launcher in the Invisible Enemy mode? That would be a great help.
You should definitely be able to play any mode with infinite ammo guns. They MIGHT disable special unlocks? But I seem to recall the remake not actually caring about anything besides completion time (as opposed to the PSX games penalizing you for unlock weapons and first aid sprays in the ranking system). And really all invisible unlocks is a nice little note about how cool it is that you bothered anyway, if you clock in under 5 hours.

That said I don't even recall burning through more ammo than usual doing it, just, point yourself down a hallway, listen for audio cues. Definitely was a good way to practice dropping hunters mid-decap jump though.

Hate to say it, but looking at those trailers, I think the original Gamecube version might look better? Definitely seems to sound better.

I think the new Ashley model is much better- The original look had her look too young for a college student IMO.

As S Rank as the Remakes for 1 and 2 were, I’m not feeling this a whole lot. RE 4 was lightning in a bottle, as Shinji Mikami’s later games can attest.

Not a fan of the Leon and Ashley models.
I like the new RE4 models for Leon and Ashley.

Claire from Remake 2 was the most jarring departure from the original game for me. Once I started playing Remake 2, I got used to and liked the new Claire.

I forgot Mikami worked on Vanquish. That was a while ago.

What’s even more of a while ago? RE Remake, the game I continue to play despite having beaten it five times now. This last go around got me the Infinite Rocket Launcher! I look forward to using it to make a future Chris campaign more tolerable.

I don’t know what it is about Resident Evil games that get my brain juices flowing. It’s happened with RE Remakes 1, 2, 3, and RE 7. Most likely RE 8, as well, unless it deviates too far from whatever invisible formula has gotten it’s tendrils in me.

Of course, I played RE4 a ton back when it came out, too. That scratched a different itch, though.

I’ve got a lot of stuff on my mind, so I decided to try RE: Remake’s Invisible Enemy mode. I can’t use my infinite weapons, so the going is excruciating. Thankfully, you can select the difficulty for this mode, unlike Real Survival, which is set to Hard.

I chose Chris on Normal, simply because he can tank more damage, and taking damage is one of the only ways I can get a clear picture of where the bad guys are. There certainly are not as many mirrors and other reflective surfaces as Purple said in the last page!

I mean there's not enough to see where everything IS, I'm just saying I didn't notice the ones there are until I was clearing out lab zombies with the help of a handy puddle and seeing around the one corner in a mirror.

I completed Hollow Man mode. Shinji Mikami said he was proud of me. I’m pleased.

I’ve done more or less everything in the game, aside from a No Save or Knife Only run, the latter of which sounds impossible with how certain boss fights work. I suppose I’m ready for RE8 soon.

I hope there is more to that game than Tall Vampire Lady. It’s the only thing anybody talked about before and after release.

There is both more... And less

I took a break from Village to try a Knife Only run in RE: Remake. It was going well until Elder Crimson Head. I’m playing on Easy, with a bunch of healing items, and I simply can’t DPS him enough before I run out of sprays and herbs. I’m playing as Jill, solely because she doesn’t have to fight the plant boss. Chris could probably tank the hits better, and probably do more knife damage, as well. How would he fight the plant, then? It’s on the ceiling!

Maybe I don’t need to get all the cheevos for every Resident Evil game?

!Update!

I now have the platinum trophy for Resident Evil Remake HD. Quite a journey from not being able to get the dog collar six years ago!

I bought Code Veronica X during the Halloween PSN sale for three dollars. I won’t be playing it for a while, but when I do, what am I in for?

Some camera stuff that was really cool at the time, a monster you'll hate, one REALLY cool boss fight, some anime villain shenanigans, and a plot revelation that's not... the best, stereotyping wise.

I have heard people say that you can lock the game into an unwinnable state by simply not having enough ammo to defeat bosses, or leaving items in earlier areas that can’t be backtracked to. That sounds scarier than anything I’ve seen in this franchise, to be honest.

I... don't think that's actually any more true than it is in any of the prior games? It DOES revisit RE2's thing with the one character or the other stuff and extends it across one whole area, but I'm PRETTY sure there's enough stuff for character 2 even if you've got sticky fingers as character 1.

It is true. At end of game you will NOT play as both characters. So if you think you need to divide resources between the two, you can potentially fuck your self over. This is right before the last boss. The above is a bit of a spoiler.

The below more explicit
2/3 of game you play as Claire. Eventually Chris shows up. Before the last boss you have a brief Claire section. Back in 2000 I made sure all inventory was split between both characters. This is s unwise! Only Chris fights the boss!

This was my fave for a long time. But doesn't hold up as well. I like the story, but beginning of megalomaniac world domination RE villains. But very creepy. It's hard af too. No dodge like re3. And a few very cruel bits, especially on no save runs. The fucking cannon ball puzzle late game especially.

I'd like a remake of this!

I actually think it's more likely to get fucked around the mid-point.

There's a fight on an airplane against a Tyrant, and if you don't have an earlier save, you're locked into fighting him with whatever you've got, which might not be enough! I gutted through it in the original release on Dreamcast, but it's become an infamous game-ender for some folks.

I forgot about that one. Lol.

Is anyone playing RE:VERSE?
Incredibly thin, and mediocre.. but fun. Play as 1 of 7 characters: Ada, Claire, Chris, Hunk, Leon, and uh Tundra? You run around in 1 of 3 stages, Village, Baker House, RPD. Kill each other. When you die turn into a monster. The type of monster dependent on how many virus cannisters you pick up. No cannisters: kinda a fat molded? 1 cannisters: hunter gamma or Jack, 2 cannisters: Tyrant or Nemesis. Monsters can wreak havoc. But get real Nem is by far the best characters also very uneven in skills and loadout. You get more points for killing as humans vs monsters. But as a monster you can do finishers to get added points. Matches are 5 mins

I think this should be wrapped up into RESISTANCE and an online form of Mercenaries somehow. What's there is thin, but has potential

Has anyone here played the demo for RE4: Remake? Is it good stuff? All I know is Leon says the line we all needed him to, and that’s enough for me to wait two more weeks.

It's good. I found it was super easy to avoid chainsaw man. But vibe in this is cool
